Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stopped here for lunch half way through a walk with our pooch. What immediately struck us was how busy it was for a Wednesday lunchtime. The staff were friendly and welcoming and there’s a nice selection of beers plus other drinks. The menu doesn’t...suggest pub grub ( neither do the prices) but our meals were excellent. The beef cheek was melt in the mouth delicious and the accompanying dauphinois superb and justified the price. Dogs are welcome and made to feel at home. Definitely worth a visit if in the area.More

Everything about the Windmill is excellent - food, atmosphere, staff. Cannot fault them. As good as anywhere locally and better than most

Visited with some friends who eat meat and we all had delicious roasts. The vegan roast was delicious and the dessert made with chickpea water was great too. Eaten here a few times and thought is always put into the vegan options. Can’t wait to...return.More

My husband had the scallops to start, I had the lamb croquet, we both had the chicken as a main. This was not pub grub, this was high end restaurant quality!! Not to mention the amazing staff!! If you read this, book a table, you...will not regret itMore

Managed to get lucky and drop in in a very busy Sunday without a reservation, where made to feel very welcome and a table was found for us. The place was very busy so obviously very popular. Excellent food and lovely staff and attentive service,...would very much recommend and will definitely return in the future.More

Excellent meal and great value, great friendly service, good quality food. The waitress, Kat, even pointed out there was a service charge when I said to add a tip which was more than the new Indian in Bollington did when the same circumstance arose, anyway...I will definitely go back there. Mind you if the wee chubby guy behind the bar smiled a bit more it would be nice. :-)More

Firstly, I have to say that the earlier review of 1 star and complaining about staff responsiveness and food quality is about as FAR removed from my reality as it is possible to get! I have been visiting this place for 14 years and really...is the BEST plave for top quality beer, food and great staff. If I ever get visitors staying, especially overseas, we take them to the Windmill as the exemplar of the Great British Pub!More

Enjoyed our first visit with friends who go frequently. Very popular despite being in middle of nowhere. Good atmosphere. Food was excellent although I thought the roast potatoes where over cooked (rock hard). Recommended.

After the reviews, what a disappointment. Service was ok, food was dreadful, left most of it. We made our feelings know but had no response. Paid the bill won’t ever go back again. Probably ok for a pint outside.More

Dear Richard. I find your comments quite inflammatory. A member of your party complained that the Prawn Cocktail was not cold enough, a fresh one was brought to the table immediately. How this is deemed as no response is beyond me!! Secondly the beef shin...More

First time in many years, however not disappointed. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We were a party of 5 for lunch and every meal was excellent, very tasty and perfectly cooked. The bread, pasta and ice cream all homemade, we tried them all,...and it really makes a difference, delicious.More
