As we were on holiday about 5 miles away we'd bookmarked this as an option for when we would be back at our accommodation late.
It was our good fortune that it's also open every evening because there's little choice in the area on a Sunday night.
The vegan choice is really good and the food was well worth the cost, especially the
Hoi-An Vegan Platter, Vegan Crispy Wonton & Hoi-An Vegan Special Fried rice/noodles.

This restaurant was highly recommended to us by a local. We were down in Bodmin for the bank holiday weekend break. The staff were very welcoming on arrival and were warm and attentive throughout. We were extremely impressed by how their Covid procedures were instigated. They handed us cleaned menus and all the cutlery was delivered in protective polythene bags.. We had the shared mixed starter platter. Very nice flavours and not greasy at all. The mains were very flavourful and well presented. It was so good we went back the following evening. We would thoroughly this to anyone who is in the area....

I was aware of Hoi An Restaurant having been a Bodmin resident for years, but never heard anyone talk about it or recommend it. Attended as part of a work group dinner, wasn't sure what to expect.
Mind. Blown.
Absolutely outstanding!
Excellent customer service. Welcoming and friendly on arrival. More than happy to find a suitable place and way to display a birthday cake for guests to see on arrival, and even went to find a vase for the various bunch of flowers that arrived for the celebration.
Very attentive staff, took drink and food orders; restaurant happy to accept variations and personal preference requests with dishes, no problem at all.
The food was as outstanding as the service. I enjoyed the Crispy and Aromatic Duck Starter. A plentiful portion, freshly prepared, hot, well presented on a board, with a heated slate on which to build one's wrap and keep it warm.
The main, Thai Green Curry, again arrived fresh, boiling hot; all the evidence that this dish had just been prepared from scratch to order was all there. Just like all the dishes my colleague had, careful attention to presentation made the food across the table look like a vibrant colourful piece of art. Not only artful, however, the Thai curry was a treat for the tongue, perfectly spiced, well balanced flavours, and a ample portion.
The dessert menu arrived after a period of rest; unfortunately no prices listed, but absolutely no quality lost in the presentation, art and taste of the desserts.
All around 5/5. Everything you want in a restaurant. Not unreasonably priced for such a dining experience. Would I go here again, absolutely yes, can't wait to try everything on the menu!
Pros:
Outstanding Customer Service
Outstanding Food - Presentation, Quality and Taste
Excellent Atmosphere
Improvements:
Pricing Needed on Dessert Menu
Drinks range limited, would like to see some cocktails on the menu
Direct parking limited (but plenty off site very close by)

Had a wonderful meal at Hội An, the food was delicious - chicken satay, deep fried calamari, crispy duck pancakes for starters and chicken penang, Sea Bass with Tempura Prawns and Bream. The flavours were amazing, and the portions generous.
The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff were friendly and engaging, even though it was quite late on one of the “eat out to help out nights” and they had clearly been extremely busy! We did have to wait for about 15-20 minutes to be seated, but coming later in the evening there is always a risk of that at any establishment, and particularly now when everyone has to take extra measures to ensure that they stay safe from Covid-19.

When we looked at the menu it was a bit odd, Thai/Chinese and English all in ones but we wanted Chinese so decided to give it a try.
Unlike many Chinese restaurants we’ve been to in the past, the menu was set for each person so it wasn’t a case of ordering a few things and sharing.
The starters were great apart from the duck which was slightly dry and a very small portion. The sauces that came with the starters were great!
The main was a decent size portion but a bit tasteless, definitely could of done with a bit more spices and flavour.
The service was great, no complaints.

We visited Hoi An for the first time this evening while on holiday and it was fab. There was SO much choice for vegetarians and vegans and the food was amazing. I've only been veggie for a few months so still miss meat sometimes, but the food was so good in it's own right that I didn't feel like I was missing out at all. They also do 20% off their vegan menu on a Thursday which is a great incentive for anyone to try - you won't be disappointed!

Had a takeaway from this restaurant last night. The food was ok, reasonably tasty, but horrifically overpriced. I was pretty astonished when I arrived home and discovered how small the portions of food were for the inflated prices charged. I thought it was pricey when I ordered but you usually get what you pay for. Not here. I will never order from here again. Total rip off.

My parter and I had the most delightful meal here. We had originally had a takeaway from Hoi An back in July on holiday and it was so good we went twice. So we knew we had to come again on this trip! The service was amazing from all the front of house staff, they were so lovely. The Vegan menu is absolutely incredible and it's probably the best Vegan meal we've ever had. The flavours are so fresh and tasty, the 'faux' meats are so delicate and well presented. Upon speaking to a member of staff she informed us that they have been perfecting the vegan menu over the last year or so, and you can really tell a huge effort has been made and the result is sublime. We want to try everything on the menu!

We went to this restaurant based on the previous excellent reviews. I’m afraid it did not live up to expectations.
The food was “nice “ but ridiculously over priced.
The calamari starter was £7.95
There were just 3 battered rings on my plate with a splash of sauce and two pieces of cucumber !
My wife’s starter was no better. £8.85 for duck pancakes. Again a small portion and the pancakes were dry and crispy.
As for the mains - there is no way they can justify £18.95 for a special fried rice.
Sorry , but the food and prices do not justify the current 4.5 rating.

Great local, yet hidden gem! We decided to give it a try due to the gov’t eat out scheme. I’m so pleased we did! We had two kids (5&9 yrs) and there were choices to make them happy. We tried a variety of dishes (green Thai curry, chicken and cashew nut stir-fry, Vietnamese curry, and sea bass with tempura prawns). All were very good. The night was made made even better by the very friendly service. Amelia was our main waitress, and she was excellent. The staff weren’t always the most efficient )likely due to being busy with this offer on), but their kindness and attitude more than made up for it. I’m happy to recommend this restaurant and will definitely return. Nice setting up on the hill overlooking town.

We were incredibly surprised to find such an accomodating vegan range at this restaurant in Bodmin. Meat eaters and vegans were equally fond of the vegan dishes. And without a shadow of a doubt, our visit was made all the better by the friendly and personal service from the staff, particularly Luis and Emilia. The staff and the food made up for an otherwise standard hotel restaurant.

Having read the reviews I had high expectations. Supposedly a family run business with home made sweet and sour source the food arrived, this review is about my meal, my wife’s was ok. I’m always dubious when I see English staff. On with the review restaurant felt cold not inviting.
Sweet and sour with jasmine rice arrived, rice was starchy and stuck together (disgusting)
Chicken was deep fried thighs, (awful) dry and crispy and had been kept warm under heat lamps! I sent this back and reluctantly accepted an exchange meal of Lemon Chicken while my wife ate alone.
The food arrived, this time with egg fried rice, this was as bad as the first attempt, stodgy and full of starch, in fact inedible!
Broccoli in side I gave to my wife, I hate Broccoli, Lemon Chicken was better but still too dry. Manager was very nice and apologetic but I asked for bill and left. I wasn’t charged for the food I didn’t eat.

Wow! The most delicious 7 course take away meal ever.
Every mouthful of every course truly scrumptious.
So much food, I’ve just had the jasmine tea smoked chicken with black rice risotto & the Baileys panacotta with coffee & walnut crumbs for my lunch.
Just an amazing quality of food cooked to perfection.
Cannot wait for the restaurant to be able to open again but until then we will continue to enjoy more takeaways.
Big thank you to everyone at Hoi Ann who work so hard & never fail to deliver this incredible food.
