We visited this amazing pub on a wet night in January and were bowled over by the hospitality, welcome and atmosphere of this amazing pub. The pub is exactly as you would wish of a olde English pub, decorated with interesting bits and pieces, wonderful original old settles and a simply stunning fireplace. When we arrived it was early evening and the pub was empty, however the landlord was welcome and chatty, he nicely enquired if we were just in for drinks or food, we stated we would like to eat if possible. He explained they were pretty much fully booked but would certainly fit us in. We enjoyed a few drinks then went through to the restaurant and wow, the food was simply out of this world, the staff were attentive and good fun and the atmosphere fabulous. After eating we retired back to the bar for more drinks, they had a lovely selection and there was a nice group in the bar enjoying themselves. I rarely feel inspired to write a review but having worked in this buisness for many years when I discover an outstanding place I think it should be celebrated. All in all the St Kew Inn, its landlord and staff deserve a huge pat on the back for their truly outstanding achievements. Thank you for a truly amazing evening, we will be back next time we are down that way.

An amazing New Year’s Eve meal. The food is probably the best I’ve ever tasted and I felt like I was underpaying at £50 each for the entire menu. The staff were so lovely and the pub itself was lush. A really special place. Thanks for having us!

This beautiful old Inn thoroughly deserves its reputation for well cooked local produce, cooked over an open fire.
Staying locally we visited for a Covid safe outside lunch at this delightful old Inn.
The service was very polite and attentive, dealing very well with allergies.
The lunch menu was very limited but the food was standout.
- Short rib cheeseburger, beef fat shallots, chipotle mayonnaise, beef fat fries
- Smoked Salmon Pastrami, Sourdough and cucumber pickle
- St Enodoc Asparagus, hedgerow leafs, old Winchester shavings
All three dishes were incredibly tasty and good value (somewhere between a starter and main course in size).
Tribute beer served, which was well kept.
Cannot wait to return once indoor dinning back open.
Highly recommended pub visit.

After reading the reviews we were looking forward to a family meal on the first night of our Cornwall holiday. We pre booked to ensure a table, as expected due to Covid restrictions, there was also a limited menu.
The starters we ordered were mediocre and were more style over substance, with a few strategically placed pea shoots in the apple mozzarella dish. The pastrami trout was three small slices and a small blackened piece of sourdough bread with flavourless chutney to accompany it.
Mains of fish and chips and sole were adequate but I doubt many chefs would add rosemary to a creamy sauce (which this place did).
Upon finishing main course we were left with finished plates for 45 minutes and lost any appetite for dessert and had to chase up a member of staff to even receive our bill! (When we did receive it, we can assure you it was not worth the money - overpriced!)

Ok given COVID restrictions we were glad to find it open. The outside space is lovely and tables well distanced. Service was friendly . Very disappointed with the food. Advertised as a special smokehouse there was a restricted menu. We ordered 3 different meals. Served in a cardboard box with wooden knife and fork. Three asparagus spears grilled with some salad leaves and a small dip.
Six mussels and four small clams served with chunk of sourdough bread.
. A hotdog in a bun with what might be mustard zig zag on the top.
Each of these small cooked snacks cost £10 each. None of us considered them value for money and they were not hot more lukewarm. Portions small.
Not up to the standard we have experienced before at the Inn.
The beer was good though but over £4.00 a pint. Obviously holiday prices- you collected it from a window in the pub . You ordered the food and paid there as well.
The food was delivered to the table.

A quick pint & a superb snack!
Popped over to St Kew for a quick drink to meet local friends who used to be neighbours.
An excellent pint of St Austell’s best was accompanied by pheasant goujons & chips which were quite superb. Served with a damson sauce in home made breadcrumbs and then deep fried and covered with grated fresh cheese they were to die for.
The landlord and chefs were on hand to thank and game cooks & lovers everywhere should be beating a path to their door when the season reopens later this year!

Ate here with my friend last night. The friendly staff are doing their best to comply with coronavirus restrictions and our table was a good distance from other diners in the room, with arrivals staggered. We both ordered the day boat catch (lemon sole with a caper dressing, roasted lemon, new potatoes and kale). The potatoes were a little al dente for my liking and could have done with some butter, which the waitress cheerfully brought me when asked. My friend ordered vanilla panna cotta with roast elderberries and pumpkin seeds, which was so good I ate half of it for her. For a pub supper, this was a fabulous meal. Book now!

Made our now traditional visit to The St Kew Inn, we had delicious meals served with the same great service as we have experienced before. A treat - great gluten free options, 30 day aged rump was so tender, cooked to perfection. Brilliant - thanks

I visited with my family and we have a very pleasant experience here. Most meals were available in kid’s sizes.
The oysters were delicious and my main of steak was cooked just the way I like it. My wife had the mussels which she really enjoyed
The passionfruit and coconut sorbet and Panna cotta were very tasty desserts

Lovely setting & excellent meals. We had booked an indoor table & received lovely friendly service from professional staff. Husband ate the rump steak which was cooked perfectly & excellent, foodie children (11 & 14) ate children’s portion burgers which were healthy portions & they said “best ever”. I ate superb fish & chips, very fresh & hot & served with minted peas & a jalapeño mayo. Delicious. Puddings were similarly superb, a chocolate torte & panna cotta. If you are nearby go, you will be in for a treat.

Lovely setting and warm welcome but the food was very disappointing. Our fish charcuterie starter was a meager portion which was supposed to come with locally made sourdough. Sadly our was a thin slice of burnt toast. I expected more for a £10 starter. The mains were just about average but not filling. Our waitress was clearly not interested or happy about serving customers. We decided not to order dessert as the first two courses had been so unsatisfactory. We won't be rushing back which is a shame as the setting is beautiful and we live nearby.

We came here during our week stay in Cornwall and came across it one day while driving to the beach. We went later that night, got there at about 9pm... they told us they stopped serving food at 9pm however were very kind and still allowed us to order food. The majority of us chose the double cheese burger and it was amazing, best burger I had ever had (I have had a lot of burgers!!!!) some of the others ordered the muscles which were also great and the bone marrow starter which is hard to come by and was also amazing. The service was great and it had a very cute and cosy outside area too which topped it off. Overall very happy with this pub and will be coming back very soon!

We had a lovely few evenings here, we only planned to come here once but returned on several days/evenings.
The atmosphere was lovely, despite them having to make more space and remove some tables. We felt very safe with the hand sanitisers in place and plenty of space around customers.
We booked a table in advance for our first night, highly recommend doing this if you want a table inside. Other days/evenings we sat in the lovely beer garden as the weather was pleasant.
The food was stunning, I had fish of the day, served with potatoes and seaweed, my husband had steak with chips and the tastiest onion and tomato. Dessert was to die for also!
As mentioned we returned a few times and will definitely be back in the future.

We visited this pub last night, we had looked at previous reviews and expectation was high, sadly we were very disappointed. My Husband ordered the wild mushroom starter and it was served on burnt toast, not just a little chard but black. He had the pork chop to follow which he said was nicely cooked but the accompanying vegetables were raw, rock hard. I had the fish and chips which was exceptable, the waiting safe were friendly and it is an interesting well heated building. We didn’t stay for desert.
