Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a cosy pub of character is this tucked-away village on the slopes of Bodmin Moor. The walls and ceiling are festooned with mugs, barometers etc, and it makes no concessions to modern fads, even retaining the traditional separate bars. Good selection of ales. The menu is strictly old-school pub food, but none the worse for that. Hearty portions of home-cooked grub, no pretensions of haute cuisine. We even got a slight discount on the puddings because some of our first choices were not available. All served with Cornish humour, and dogs welcome into the bargain!

We visited on Monday, 13th July, the welocome was warm and the beer cold. the porblem arose with the food my wife and i had the fist and when it arrived the batter was very dark and the fish inside was tough and parts of it were dark, in our opinion it wasnt cooked. The waitress came out and said it was at temperature and that they had served hundreds of these dishes with no complaints. the menu was limited so they did us anotherfish meal each.
The batter was lighter in colour and the fish was better but not great. A lady sat at the bar said that she had mentioned the poor quality of the fish to the owner and would mention it again.
If they want an example of what we expected then i suggest they go to the borough arms bodmin their fish was excellent.
so, all in all our visit which we had looked forward to for a long tiome was tainted - such a shame
One final comment - the staff need to take fair comments in the manner they were made

It's only after leaving the Blisland that you realise how special it really is. Kind, attentive staff, 9 ales on draught, tasty roasts, the amazing Margaret who provided the humour, great atmosphere, brilliant location ... The list goes on! The Blisland Bulldog Ale is unbelievable so we took a couple of 4-pint takeaway containers so that we could enjoy the experience at home.

We stopped off at the Blisland Inn after a long walk in the area with our 2 dogs. They stopped serving food at 2pm but they were very kind and took an order from us just after. My other half had fish and chips, I had a lovely Sunday roast both of which were delicious and the puddings after were tasty. Our dogs were also given a treat which they enjoyed whilst we ate. They also had a good varied selection of drinks... The staff were friendly and the service was fast and efficient. We will definitely return again for another Sunday stroll and some lovely pub grub 👍

Lovely pub with an excellent choice of food and drink, and very very friendly.
We visited twice during our week in Cornwall, my husband loves ham egg and chips and he said The Blisland Inns were the best he’s had in a very long time.
We will definitely be visiting again next time we are in Cornwall.

Visited here Jubilee day as it was my birthday.
A real old country pub in a village with the perfect name.
Our visit was indeed bliss. A proper old English pub
The atmosphere was friendly as were the staff
Our meal was wonderful. Freshly cooked to order and served on hot plates
The prices fror meals and drinks were reasonable.
Plenty of seating outside over from the village green
Very dog friendly
We will be going back with family when they visit us in a few weeks. In fact we have alresdy booked.

I ordered a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. It was warm. They offered me ice!
My crab sandwich was dry and tasteless, the crab had been fresh once but not by the time it got to me. I ordered coffee, when it came it was Nescafé Instant with UHT milk. Ugh.
My husband had rainbow trout which was lovely and local beer which he enjoyed.
Disappointing.

I can’t believe we were recommended to visit this pub. We called the day before and booked a table for 7 at 2 pm so when we arrived we were surprised to be told the kitchen closed at 2 so we had to order ahead for the 2 who were stuck behind us on the single track narrow lane
We all had to sit in a dingy back room as we had a child with us. The food was basic stale bread sandwiches and oven chips - certainly not worth driving for miles down narrow lanes . It’s a shame as it looks nice from the outside.

We visited for dinner during our holiday. We were very lucky to get a spot booking on the day. The pub is ideal for ale enthusiasts as they have loads of ales to choose from. We sampled both of their in house ales which were excellent.
We both had lasagne for mains, very large portions.
We weren't offered starters or puddings as the website suggested would be available, but I think this is due to how busy they were. Maybe visiting outside of the busy bank holiday weekend other courses would be available?
Lots of witches and other quirky decorations can be found throughout the pub.

We’ve visited this pub for the second time this year, the first time in February when we stayed a few hundred metres away, this time in November a mile walk across the fields on the public footpaths.
The first time we we pleasantly surprised by the lunchtime food and again we weren’t disappointed on the second visit.
The bar and kitchen staff are very welcoming as well as the locals where the number of dog’s almost outnumbered the humans.
The choice of lunch was very good and the chips were cooked to perfection putting any fish and chip shop I’ve been to, to shame.
Also I mustn’t forget to mention that this is the place to visit if you’re into your real ales.

Sunny beer garden out front. Great food and hearty portions. Super-friendly/ helpful staff.
We stopped off by chance to see if they did food in the evening. Extensive menu but we opted for a couple of the specials - a lamb curry that came with rice, nan bread, mini popadoms and mango chutney and a home-made beef lasagne that came with salad and chips. Both were tasty.
The dessert menu looked good too but we were just too full from the huge main courses so had to pass.
It’s less of a typically touristy spot too so prices are very reasonable. Just make sure you don’t sit in the seat of a local in the main bar 😂. We almost did but we’re skilfully guided to another table by the staff😃

Rustic country pub with welcoming staff. Good range of real beers at reasonable prices. Also do DoomBar 0°alchol bottle beer. Excellent menu however could have a more imaginative vegetarian selection. Only disappointment was ordering a coffee and having it served in a cup without a saucer, small gripe. Very dog friendly in fact nearly all diners had at least one dog. Best to book a table as food in the evening is only served between 6 and 9pm.

After a quick look on Google for somewhere to stop we found our way to The Blisland Inn. It was busy but we managed to get a table outside. There was quite a comprehensive food menu for which we had the fish cakes and a lamb and mint burger, lots of chips as well. I had a pint of Sir Lancelot, which was excellent, and my partner had half of Blisland Bulldog which she said was really smooth. Food didn't take long and was really fresh and tasty. We would have stayed for another drink but we needed to drive on to our holiday stay. A really great pub with excellent service, beer and food. We will definitely go again when next visiting Cornwall.

We received a really warm welcome from the young lady behind the bar, who couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful. We chose jacket potatoes, which came with 2 butters, generous amounts of prawn and tuna fillings and excellent salads of very fresh leaves, tomato, pepper, radish, celery. The young man who served our food was also very friendly. Sadly we were driving so couldn’t sample the wonderful selection of local ales. We sat in the lounge bar with its amazing collections of toby jugs, pipes, etc; a quirky and fascinating room. An unpretentious, historic and traditional Cornish pub in a beautiful location on the village green. The loos could definitely do with refurbishment but all in all an excellent lunch stop and we shall return.
