Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My family have asked me to post this on their behalf. My dad, mum, and auntie visited the restaurant today as it was my auntie’s birthday. They had an amazing visit and a lovely morning. Thanks for making it special. They had great coffee with...delicious cakes. A wonderful setting, friendly staff and they have all spoken very highly of their visit. So thank you so much from me for looking after them and thanks so much from them for the lovely visit.More

Recently moved to the area and this restaurant was recommended to me by a stranger in a queue! Give me a forest and loch or river and I'm happy, the sound of water. Can't wait to sit on the terrace. The interior is charming, atmosphere...is lovely, staff very friendly. Been for coffee, brought student daughter today, she can be fykey, but the Cajun chicken sandwiches went down a treat. Beautiful venue for a function.More

We attended a private family event following a funeral on Thursday. It was during the extreme weather and with no electricity. Despite the challenges Carolyn and the team at Falls of Feugh prepared an amazing afternoon tea, sandwiches, beautiful cakes, sausage rolls etc for 80...plus people. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend.More

This is one of our happy places. We’ve been coming for years and cannot recommend it highly enough. By far the best place in Banchory and beyond! We are always warmly greeted, like old friends, the service is charming, attentive and never overbearing and always...on point and timely. The food…it seems to get better and better. The dishes, from starters to desserts are masterpieces with several individual component’s accompanying and enhancing what is a truly accomplished and delicious food. In truth every single dish has something that would appeal to almost everybody. John is a Chef I respect and admire and I will continue supporting the restaurant as long as it continues- I’m already planning our next visit and Christmas meal. Thank you for an outstanding experience that is not only affordable but we always take joy and happiness away with us.More

Had a family birthday celebration here and couldn’t fault the experience. Menu had choice for all tastes and all our dishes were wonderful - especially the chicken and braised beef - cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. The younger members of the party were well...catered to as well. Good friendly service too.More

Only had time for a quick bowl of soup - lovely big bowl of Tomato & Roast Pepper with a delicious home made bread roll, but will definitely go back as the main courses that we could see looked incredible. Staff were polite, friendly and...attentive even though it was busy. Can’t wait for next visit.More

My mum, sister and I had a wonderful Sunday Lunch here recently. The location is tranquil & relaxing and the staff were friendly and extremely attentive. Our food was delicious & although I have a wheat allergy there were plenty of gluten free options available...or dishes that could be adapted - My mother is elderly and not very mobile & because the restaurant is on one level it was easy for her to negotiate - I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.More

We never even got to try the food. After standing for ages waiting to be seated and blatantly ignored three times, even after eye contact was made. We turned to leave and an older lady asked if she could help, we said not now we’ve...waited and been ignored. No apology just blaming the “girl from Kenya has just started” . No excuse for poor service and leaving us looking a right pair iof Charlie’s. If we’d had an apology instead of this rude woman blaming the young girl we’d have probably stayed. I felt she was a wee bit of racism came out, did the wifie have to tell us the girl was from Kenya. We’ll not be going back there.More

We stopped for lunch after a long, slow drive and happy we did so. The welcoming staff promptly brought our much needed drinks and informed us of a wait time for food which we appreciated. It means we we had more time to study the...varied and interesting menu. When the main courses arrived they were certainly worth the short wait —- super tasty and excellent value for money. And it was lovely having a young local team looking after us. Well done all.More

Nice high quality dishes at a reasonable price point tucked away by the river underneath Banchory. Have visited a few times over the years and have always enjoyed. The chef combines flavors well whilst using local ingredients

Poor dining experience, with terrible service. Location is excellent, food was reasonable. Staff seemed lacking in training and no customer engagement. Slow to take order, missed drinks, food delivery was slow and no coordination of order choices vs dinner. An excuse for delays could be...that it was busy - if so, why take more "Walk-ins"More

Positives - We came for a late light lunch, the food was really good, we very much enjoyed what was served. The surroundings are beautiful and the handy car park across from the restaurant is most helpful as an overspill, the interior of the restaurant...has not changed hugely in many years though it is a comfortable place. Negatives - The staff appear to be considerably inexperienced, one in particular was making many errors in basic food service, while an older (darked haired) female was very abrupt and considerably rude. She very much embarrassed me in front of my bewildered family with her loud attempt to apologise for interfering/interrupting during my attempt to order coffee and settle the bill - A bill that I was trying to pay without my guests noticing. We left without having the coffee. I was incredibly embarrassed at this member of staffs behaviour, indeed she simply ruined what had been a nice afternoon with family that we barely manage to meet up with. The food is expensive furthermore, if using vouchers keep in mind that they state 6 months though they actually only give you 5 months. We will not be coming back nor will we recommend.More

Please note our vouchers are valid for a FULL six months and the statement in this review saying we only give five is wholly inaccurate.

We recently visited this hidden gem in Banchory. We saw the awards in the entrance room and were excited to see if the food was that good. And oh it was excellent. The chef did a fantastic job and the service was up to par...too. If we are in the area again we will definitely be paying a visit.More
