Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

V impressed by lunch menu. All of us had the special …. beef bourguignon pie. A generous portion with a range of vegetables, best pie I’ve ever had in a pub. Shared a wonderful banoffee pie for dessert , tasted just like home made. Delightful...waitress who could not have been more helpful. Highly recommend and will definitely return.More

What a lovely, friendly pub. The range of drinks was great (gluten free and vegan lager and an extensive wine list) and food was super tasty and hot. They had lots of options for our dietary requirements (vegan, vegetarian and gluten free) and I had...confidence in the preparation methods. Fantastic smiley service and beautiful decor. Overall a lovely atmosphere and I will be going back.More

Having booked several weeks in advance one might expect a decent table and good attention 4 of us arrived early to a pub which was absolutely seething with people. We were eventually given a totally unacceptable and very uncomfortable table squashed in with others. Having...declined that we were given a table immediately under the blaring television. It was all too much to bear The staff seemed disinterested and there was no manager on site We decided to seek a meal elsewhere and I cancelled all other bookings which I had made It was a gruesome experienceMore

Thank you to Lydia and the team for looking after 35 of us for lunch today. Excellent service as always and the food wasn’t bad either!

After having a brilliant meal during the past week, we booked New Year's Eve, for another meal and an evening of music and fun. We weren't disappointed. A great meal for the three of us, was followed by a great evening of live music (for...no extra charge for the live band). We were joined by another friend for the later evening and all four of us have said it was one of the best New Years, in an inn, that we have ever had. The band were brilliant, played Soul and funk, mixed with a couple of others and every thing was performed with their individual take on it, and the whole place shouted for more when they finished. The staff was amazing and everything as as you would want it.More

First time a few months ago and went for the South Downs Cider plus a lunch menu there, definitely need to try out a few things more there, good to have waitress service, rather than walking to the bar each time. A good place to...come to and would recommend as a spot for food and drink.More

We had an excellent lunch. Ham sandwich, a ploughman's and chicken skewers were all delicious. Sticky toffee pudding and lemon posset were also delicious. Good portion size. We will visit again.

Ordered a glass of Malbec on arrival and was told they had run out… on a Saturday night and 7.30pm, I found this odd. Ordered pie and sausages and mash. Was told both also out of stock. Ordered Camembert, order was sent through… then was...told this was ALSO out of stock. At this point it was embarrassing. None of the waitresses knew what was and wasn’t in stock. Why was so much out of stock on a Saturday night? Who knows. Next I was asked if I had booked a table… we had been sat at the table for nearly 40 minutes… weird. At this point we had literally had a drink and still not been able to order food that was actually in stock. The food we eventually got was below par but I couldn’t be bothered to complain because the staff couldn’t have cared less. One waitress had her hair down which is disgraceful in a food and beverage environment. Others were wearing pyjama like clothes. The whole experience was a shambles and a total waste of money. I won’t be returning. Disgraceful.More

Good food & so much of it. A warm welcoming team, attentive to the needs of the family. As pub grub it’s one of the best though it is more of a restaurant than a pub these days
