Popped in for a pint and had the best burger I've had in Sussex. Made very welcome by the new landlord and landlady.

Went to lunch at the pub with my daughters, wife and a friend. Fresh to the menu this weekend was a Goat option offered as a roast. Having tried Goat several times abroad 3 of us opted for this. The meal arrived, beautifully cooked with the usual potatoes and veg. The Goat was beautiful, moist and tasty. Supplied by Nabscott... More

After a bit of research via the good pub guide and trip advisor we planned a 4 mile country walk followed by a pub lunch. Unfortunately at the end of May 2016 the pub was closing down and although open for drinks on the day of our visit, it was no longer serving food. I understand that new landlords will... More

One evening midweek . Quiet evening but excellent service , staff friendly and helpful. Food was excellent . I have eaten here before and have never been disappointed . Rosé wine is particularly good . Surroundings are typical old pub , an ambiance I am fond of. A little pricey but quality is superb. You get what you pay for.... More

A fantastic atmosphere with cheery, helpful staff, Harveys on tap and some of the best food i have ever eaten in a restaurant. The menu changes daily so there is always something new! If they are available, i strongly recommend the lamb burger or the rump steak, which are only rivaled by the Black Boys Inn, though are markedly cheaper!

Went with friends for Sunday lunch & it was really lovely food & staff were extremely welcoming. My friends who are from Essex were most impressed & said they would like to re-visit.

This is a low key village pub with heart and soul. Unpretentious but attractive interior (check out the fabulously oversized lights over the bar!) and always a warm, attentive and professional welcome from Jules, who shows how front of house should be done. The food is delicious, beautifully presented, seasoning spot on; lamb dishes, steak and great puds are always... More

This was my first visit. The pub was almost empty which surprised me on a Saturday lunchtime. However we received a very warm welcome and the food was delicious. My Mum had Liver and Bacon and I had a Broccoli and mushroom Risotto. We were served chilled tap water without asking. This bill was reasonable (I think it was approximately... More
