Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Friendly staff, good service. Nice to sit outside and look out over the harbor. They do not serve food anymore, but they do have an ice cream bar daytime. Fair prices on the beer.

A quaint area south side of Montrose, on the tidal estuary mouth from the water coming from the Montrose basin and exiting into the North Sea. Diamond Lils dining room is walled with artefacts and information about . Welcome simple fare served with pleasant staff....A welcome for returning from a lovely coastal walk which includes a lighthouse, especially when the weather is invigorating. Also includes a nice little bar which I will try another day.More

We walked from Montrose to Usan Lighthouse and looked into this place with curiosity as a potential venue for lunch. On our way back from Usan, we met a dog walker who told us that Lunch in Diamond Lil's was a must do. So we...visited it with caution. We were extremely impressed by the very friendly welcome from our server. Our orders were taken promptly and we were certainly not disappointed by the fare on offer. It was cooked to perfection. Soup served with a hot roll and butter just melted in the mouth. The respective main courses of Steak Pie and haddock were beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. Sadly we did not have the appetite for the attractive sweets on offer. What a wonderful find and we cannot wait to return to Diamond Lil'sMore

Stopped in after a very cold walk and had a cup of hot chocolate. Landlord and staff very hospitable and we spotted someone having sticky toffee pudding so vowed to go back for a meal. Took two grandchildren who loved the burgers and chips. Steak...pie also great. And the sticky toffee was brilliant! Very friendly staff and interesting history. We'll be back.More

It's been a long time since I was in this small pub in Ferryden where my dad came from and where I lived before leaving my home town of Montrose 40 odd years ago. The character has totally changed but the friendliness in the small...bar before we went through to the 16 cover dining room remaines the same. One of my last memories of the 70s was one of the regulars reversing his horse out of the bar because there was no room to turn. Can't recall what the horse had to drink but back in those days there was very little choice - either Tennents Lager or McEwans Export ! We enjoyed a great pint of Caley Best. Bill had an excellent Haddock Mornay and I had the best Battered Haddock I can remember. Great juicy, plump, succulent and of a generous proportion. Once my wife Debra comes back over from the States that will be the first place we go for dinner. Can#t wait to go back.More

Had a lovely lunch for the first time at Diamond Lils as my friends had been raving about it for ages. Lovely young waitress, pleasant new fresh decor and lovely relaxed atmosphere. The food was beautiful freshly made and very hot and service quick. I...had the southern fried Chicken breast which was definitely a fresh piece of chicken breast. The roll was also one of the softest I have had for a while. My friends mum had the homemade chicken and leek pie. It too looked and tasted divine she said, we stayed for dessert but I had to share as I was so full but the desserts looked delicious and they were, I can’t wait to take my husband there he will love the food and the quiet atmosphere ,More
