You know the bitter aftertaste (that can hang around for hours) you get with some aliolis? Well, you won't experience that at Nou Portet. Their alioli is the best we have ever had: smooth, creamy, not bitter, with a nice green tint thanks to the...parsley. It was served with a warm roll (which I know I shouldn't have as well as three courses) and it was delicious. We were greeted by Karin, a charming French lady who was so friendly and welcoming - she really is a breath of fresh air after the many surly waiters we have encountered over the years. We had the Saturday menu del dia, which was E14.90 for pan y alioli, three courses and a drink, which was great value. I had the goat's cheese salad, which was super; green Thai fish curry, again, delicious; and coconut cake. I don't usually eat dessert, but it was a light cake and perfectly acceptable. My husband had chicken pate, which he said was tasty, but it would have been better served with homemade melba toasts rather than shop-bought crackers. His Chicken Milanesa was huge: two pieces of chicken and a large serving of fried potatoes and green beans. He said it was very good, nice and hot and very filling. He had profiteroles for pudding, which he enjoyed. The glasses of wine were generous. The restaurant is set back from the the road, which isn't particularly busy, but I can't help wondering why the people who built it originally didn't construct the dining terrace on the other side of the building facing the mountain and nicer view. However, that aside, we could not fault the service from Karin and the other very pleasant young waiter, the quality of the food for the price and the overall experience. We will definitely return.More
