I have rented quite a few bikes throughout Europe but this shop was by far the most friendly and helpful. I would strongly recommend if you need a decent roadbike or mountainbike

We hired e mountain bikes from John and spent the day on the moors and had the time of our lives. The bike quality is superb, well maintained, fully charged with good battery life and price reasonable. John gave great route guidance for great off...road tracks and road routes with glorious moor and valley views. Back in time for delicious cup of tea, Yorkshire tea loaf, and vegan date crumble for the hubby at the café before heading off to check out nearby Whorlton castle and church. Nothing short of fabulous.More
Lovely latte in a lovely cafe - but surprising and disappointing to pay nearly 4 quid to have it served in a paper cup. Hopefully the cups are recycled...
We hired an e mtb bike from John so that a friend could try one out. From the start John could not have been more helpful both with the bike and the route we had planned. Unfortunately we had an incident with the bike, damaging...one pedal beyond our ability to fix it on the trail, so we phoned John. Within half an hour he turned up with a new pedal and with some skill and experience he managed to repair the pedal and crank, which was also damaged so we could continue our much looked forward to ride. So thank you John and yes I would recommend the Rusty Bike Cafe though due to timing we missed out on the food but many other bikers were tucking into what looked like tasty food.More
This is a little jewel. Friendly staff, first class pastries and great coffee. Sitting outside amongst the charming bike themed rust - just brilliant! We took several photos to take back with us from our holiday and chatted to the staff - can't wait to...revisit next year.More
Fantastic spot for food and bike hire. John is a fantastic bloke so helpful and knowledgeable. Definitely worth a visit even if its just for coffee.
A great little cafe that is popular with cyclists. We had a Ebike tour arranged via John. We hired a couple of electric bikes which were adjusted for us and had a guided tour of the hills. The Ebikes made it a lot more manageable...for the hills as there was plenty of charge to help us get up. We even managed heart attack hill without too much trouble and that is with us not cycling that often. The tee and coffee is nice. They are served in paper cups and paper trays. The brownies were nice and the sausage rolls were excellent.More
This used to be a favourite café stop on our bike rides but since the pandemic they have replaced crockery and cutlery with disposable paper boxes instead of plates, wooden cutlery and takeaway cups. We visited today hoping to find that things had been restored...to normal like almost all other cafés have but alas no. Still disposable serving materials. The sad thing is that this is a lovely bustling atmospheric café that serves great food and delicious coffee but it let’s itself down badly by persisting on paper plates etc. in the name of sustainability despite still charging top prices. I don’t want to drink from a paper cup and pay £3.50 for it. So we won’t be back until they get the crockery outMore
Called in today for coffee and a treat whilst out cycling. First time visiting for me and I absolutely loved this place. The decor is cosy especially with the fire on and the twinkly lights plus the artwork displayed is beautiful and right up my...street. Plenty of room inside and out so would recommend for a group visit which is something I intend to do with my cycling club. The cheese scone I had today was the best I’ve ever had and the cakes all looked amazing too. My other half had a fat rascal which he loved too. Coffees were good…we didn’t haven any problem with the cardboard cups/plates some people will whinge about anything though! The toilets were lovely…more like hotel bathroom then toilets at a cafe. Staff were friendly and met the owner as we were leaving who was also lovely. I would highly recommend this place and we will make this our new regular haunt when out on our bike rides.More
Stopped off with a friend and our dogs after this place was recommended by a cycling friend. The place is handily a ccessible by car if you head north from Cod Beck Reservoir parking but its quite a narrow country road. Also parking at rear...of cafe bit tight access. Worth it tho as it has good tea & coffee and good quality snacks which is a pleasant place to pit stop and have a snack with friends, family or dogs.More
Its a bike stop cafe so its paper cups and a bit of self service, having said that, the atmosphere was lovely, people were friendly and the food was nice, the coffee was good. lovely little find!
Worth every penny. As we ride our cycling routes, we tend to make sure we pass by here. All the staff are friendly and welcoming, the fair prices reflect the excellent food and drink. My personal favourite being the Mediterranean roll. Coffee always hit the...spot and the location is well kept, tidy and I adore the decorations l choices. I just wish I lived closer and I’d of been a regular for sure.More
Thank you for your visit to the Rusty Bike and to have taken time write such a positive review for us. Hope you will be back soon, the wood burning stove is on every now day, to warm you up after your winter ride. Best...More
Second visit inside a week, first after run with friends and today to show partner the castle discovered on said run. Both times the drinks were great and tea cake and scones excellent BUT I do not wish to sit inside a cafe and drink...from a paper cup and eat from a paper tray. Sitting outside I could maybe understand it. Note signs saying please place rubbish in recycling but on return to counter was instructed to place all in black bin bag. I even pointed out it included butter wrapper and dirty napkin therefore rendering un-recyclable. Saying “it’s recyclable” is not the same as stuff actually being recycled. The food and drinks are great, it this just strikes me as lazy and not sincere.More
Thank you for taking time to post your review, Yes I haven't got the recycling right, I have been out of action for a few months I need to make a better job of things. Thank you for pointing out our failings, will try to...More
Just been back to this cafe. Awful!! Got beans on toast served in a cardboard tray. 2 warm slices of bread. Not toast! Beans served in an ice cream tub. Wooden knives and forks!!! We'd asked and paid for cheese that we pointed out wasn't...there. As he took our food away for a meagre sprinkling of cheese, I asked if we could have them served properly on a plate. The young lad said "we can't do plates because of Covid"!!!! I asked how we were meant to eat it and he told us to "dip our bread in the beans"! 🤣🤣 This is 6th of August 2022!!! Ridiculous!!! We have been before and it was lovely. You need to come out of covid mode! Proper plates, cups and cutlery!!More
Hired a road bike for almost a week whilst staying nearby on a visit from overseas. The bike was very comfortable with good quality componentry (KTM Carbon Fibre frame, 105 groupset, Selle saddle, Fulcrum wheels) and very well maintained. John the proprietor offered friendly advice...on routes and provided essential spares to carry plus a helmet. They hire out a range of bikes including mountain and e-bikes. Highly recommended, especially if you want to get some miles/kilometres in when you're missing your bike.... Local roads are fabulous for cycling and the drivers are generally very courteous. Oh, and their cake & coffee is good too. RecommendedMore
