The place is under new management and we went along with high hopes that it would be as good as before, but next time we may look at going elsewhere instead, sadly.
The pigeon breast starter was plain and simple and very nice though the...mushroom underneath was very greasy. Just the right amount of pink to keep the meat tender.
The liver was overcooked, with no pink and therefore rather too firm, not good. This should be easy to get right. Also plain and simple with good red cabbage and mash, it could have been pepped up a bit with seasoning/spice.
Sticky toffee pudding with generous amount of pecans was great, while the hazelnut brulée was not a happy combination.
The service was fine and friendly, except that when the waitress asked after our meal she just said "OK" and moved on to both my comment that the liver could have been cooked less and my husband's that it was overcooked. A training point perhaps.
For the price we would have liked proper napkins, perhaps a sweetmeat at the end, and the bill presented better than a rolled up scrap!More
