We visited on Sunday, part of a large group and everyone having food. When the waitress brought our soup order she commented on one being noticeably smaller than the other. The smaller portion was taken away and brought back a little fuller, however it had been topped up with hot water, rather than with more soup, and was therefore quite... More

We booked a table at this popular pub and met up with friends here. The view from the car park is breathtaking. We had a table near to the fire, lovely on a cold day. My starter of seafood in a white sauce with a crumb topping was delicious and I recommend it. I followed this with Cumberland sausages in... More

This is a great pub for a hearty lunch or dinner. The Sunday roasts are excellent and the service is efficient and friendly. The view from the pub is fantastic too.

I love this place. It's got a brilliant view. Arrived just in time to watch the Red Arrows fly over for the Chatsworth country fair. The food is fantastic. It's an ideal place to visit after you've been walking all day. Really hearty meals with great portion sizes and the service is warm and welcoming.

Visited on a busy Sunday lunch, had to wait for table but pleasant drink at the bar and the open fire made for a cosy atmosphere. Food was traditional take on on pub staples but cooked to a high standard, prices are at the top end for this area but we were happy with both the food and service, would... More

I thought the days of terrible pub food were thankfully dying in our country, not so it seems. I'm giving a poor review not only because of the bad food, but because of the ridiculous reviews which inexplicably give the Barrel Inn 5 stars. This is a lovely pub in many ways, great views, nice architecture, local art to purchase... More

Visited during our stay at Breton cottage next door. Fantastic little pub offering great food and drink and a lovely atmosphere. Very busy so would recommend people book if they wish to have an evening meal.

Went on a Friday night for dinner, location is with fantastic views. Comfortable place with nice feel to it. The staff were all lovely and attentive. The drinks were good and presented as they should be (with garnish). Food is quality with a very good and varied selection. Really nice place, really nice food, really nice staff.

Whilst visiting 'TheHutEyam', the owner recommended that we visit the Barrel Inn. It was a 40 min walk (trek) from where we were staying, and most of that was uphill. The return journey was a steep trek back and in pitch blackness. But....it was well worth it as we watched a stunning sunset on the way! Although we were told... More
