Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Against all the odds, snow and ice, the staff struggled to get into the café on Sunday 3rd of December, to prepare outside catering, tapas, for our Argentine Tango Christmas dance. They went above and beyond to get this food to us. It was wonderful tapas, excellently prepared and presented. We had lots of positive comments from our dancers about it. Thank you so very much for making our celebration fabulous. We would highly recommend their outside catering service. The Last Tango in West Cumbria dance group,

Popped in for a quick lunch. Good service, good food, nice Earl Grey tea. Can recommend beef and onion baguette, and Cumberland sausage baguette.

This is an amazing little cafe. It has two rooms, one of which is dog friendly. We ate here three times whilst staying nearby because the home made food is delicious. The staff were lovely too.

Having read the reviews we had to give this place a try! Back home we are spoiled for breakfasts but this quaint little place was big on flavours! The coffee was delicious, the food was fresh, well cooked and plentiful. The menu was extensive with something for everyone. Service was polite, courteous and professional. Cost was very, very reasonable. Overall an excellent experience that you need to try for yourself! Thank you to the staff on this morning for making us feel very welcome! It is certainly a place we will be returning too. 😋👍🍳🥓

We only went in for coffee (twice) and it was up there amongst the best coffees we've had. The café is very nice and the menu looked interesting... I'd certainly be tempted by it (only we'd just had breakfast). Worth waiting for the next train to Ravenglass, to get a good coffee here!

My husband and I visited this lovely cafe after it came highly recommended by an estate agent who we had viewed a house with. We ordered two Woodland Cream Teas with prawn filling as our choice of sandwich. It came beautifully presented on a tiered tea cake stand. The sandwiches were made with homemade granary bread and extremely deep filled with the prawns. Absolutely delicious! The scones were also homemade and again tasted amazing. We enjoyed it so much that we returned the next day after a long walk and enjoyed cappuccinos with a slice of chocolate fudge cake and a slice of Victoria sponge which was deep filled with cream and jam. Again scrumptious! Both times staff were very friendly and attentive. We definitely recommend that you stop here if visiting in the Wasdale area.

We stopped by on the way from a visit to Bootle Beach. The setting is stunning, peaceful and tranquil, with a variety of small birds snacking on the Woodlands feeders. We were offered a seat by the window and enjoyed searching through the extensive menu. Our order of caramel shortbread and lattes was taken promptly by a polite and friendly member of the team. The food and drinks arrived promptly and both were delicious, especially the coffee. The unique ambience was conducive to enjoying a lazy afternoon in Santon Bridge! The service was excellent and the prices fair. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will return soon.

We stopped off for a bite to eat while out exploring. It’s a bit off the beaten track but well worth the diversion. Clean and pleasant surroundings, friendly service and great food at a very fair price for the quality. I’d especially recommend the Brie and cranberry quiche. A very filing lunch but we decided to take some of the fresh cakes away and having just enjoyed those back in Keswick I confirm they are great like the rest of the food.
