Interrogating our diary to find when we can visit again

Met with close friends on Friday, 27th January 2023 at The Snug for lunch. On entering, you could immediately feel the warm welcoming atmosphere and all present within enjoying their experience. The choice of food was wide and varied and above all, of excellent quality. The service throughout was second to none and both the owners and staff couldn't have done any more to ensure that our visit was a most satisfactory one. On a monthly basis we meet as a wider group of friends and will now place The Snug Restaurant at The Ffwrwm on the agenda for a future visitation. Jacqui and Mal

A long awaited return

I haven't been to this part of the world for well over twenty years. We paid a visit to Snug, I had a lovely Chicken and Bacon wrap, my wife had the cheese wrap. Both come with crisps and coleslaw and plenty of salad inside the wraps themselves. Both well presented and the quality of food was excellent. Very efficient service and food brought to the table. We also had cappuccinos which come with an added biscotti. This is certainly a place that we will be visiting again in the near future.

Me and my boyfriend has had breakfast here twice and both time were great. Great value for fresh and good quality breakfast. I had the Eggs Royale with a side of Glamorgan sausage and my boyfriend had the extra large breakfast and both were very tasty. Would definitely recommend and I will 100% be returning when in the area.

Overly priced and blaned

Very expensive £12 for a pork baguette the meat was served in the baguette with the crackling left on the meat, I love crackling don’t get me wrong but made the baguette hard eat. It was also very bland and lacked seasoning on the meat. Also ordered a turkey baguette that is actually served as a panini with plane cheddar cheese and small strips of turkey also very bland. We sat at a table where people had just left the staff said we’ll clear the table but that’s all they did clear the plates and I had to ask after waiting for them to come and wipe the left over crumbs etc. For the prices they charge I would expect more from them.

Another Amazing Lunch.

Another Amazing Lunch. This place is amazing for a very very good breakfast and then after 1145 m they move to Lunch. Today I have a roast pork and stuffing baguette with French fries off the specials board and my girl had a Chicken BLT Never disappointed. Truly 5star

The Snug is.a pretty, rustic cafe by day and a cute place for dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings. Food and service excellent quality. Steak was cooked to perfection but I would say a little more pepper sauce and some more vegetables would have been nice. Good value for money and great ambience.

Amazing friendly homely restaurant

Absolutely amazing cooked breakfast , thick sausages thick bacon small hash browns tomatoes mushrooms runny egg black pudding and a thick slice of sourdough toast . Flat white coffee . Stunning fresh food . My pregnant daughter asked for things to be substituted as she can’t stomach certain foods nothing was too much trouble waitresses and waiter accommodated without a fuss . This is friendly cozy little place and would highly recommend anyone to go and try it not just for breakfast they obviously do other meals plus they have a new pizza oven . Everything is freshly made .. can’t wait to come back thank you for a very enjoyable time

Great Sunday Lunch

I took a friend to the snug for Sunday lunch. We chose the lamb which was cooked to perfection. We always have a lovely selection of vegetables which makes it even better. With so many restaurants increasing the pricing it was nice to see that with all the rising costs Lunch had only gone up £1. It was great value for money. I have been eating there for years and I’m still impressed at the quality and service.

Excellent food and service

One of the nicest full breakfasts we’ve had at a restaurant, anywhere. It was piping hot, tasty and all freshly prepared. It was not greasy or oily and the mushrooms were excellent, not just boiled and unseasoned. Our server was friendly and made our visit very pleasant indeed. We will be returning for sure.

Sunday breakfast

A very nice restaurant in the back streets of the old Roman fort town of Caerleon. We called in for a Sunday breakfast I had a medium English and wife had her usual vegetarian breakfast Both were served quickly and well presented. Price’s included toast and fruit juice. Good choice of non traditional breakfast as well

Traumatised for life!!

Had the veggie breakfast and mid eating my food I come across a insect in my food! As you can imagine I started to be physically sick in their bathroom. Completely vile!! When I told the staff I was told it was a “seed” last time I checked, seeds didn’t have legs!! 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤢🤢🤢 disgusting and completely put off for life! AVOID. AVOID. AVOID.

Little gem with local food!

Delicious food and great service, this restaurant is a little gem and great value for the quality of food you get. I will definitely go back. I had welsh lamb, and by the time I finished eating they had sold out, I love fresh locally sourced and well cooked produce! The tempura prawn and squid snd vegetable starter was also delightful! Shame I could not fit in dessert.

Beautiful!

We popped in today (Saturday morning) for a family breakfast of four to celebrate a birthday. All but one reserved table was full and we asked if there was any chance we could be seated. Despite how busy the restaurant was, and with some quick planning from the servers, they managed to make it work and squeeze us in! We are usually very fussy eaters with contrasting pallets but we all quickly chose a meal we wanted and there was no shortage of choice. With myself being vegetarian, I really appreciated my choices being catered for - a rare luxury now that the majority of restaurants, when offering meat-free options, only cater for vegan, and have a tendency to forget us veggies still enjoy our cheese and eggs! All meals were beautifully presented and cooked perfectly. It is evident that a lot of pride goes into sourcing good quality produce. Despite four totally different dishes, all of them arrived at the same time. We were especially impressed with the extra large cooked breakfast. Not a single scratch was left uneaten. I can’t wait to treat my family to our next breakfast. :)

Hidden Gem

I have been to the Snug many years ago. I know Carlson village quite well. I went again today with two friends for lunch at 12 on a Thursday. Than God I booked online as the place was full. Very authentic Roman cafe. Service was prompt, friendly and attentive. The place was very clean & tables were already set up. There was menu foe 2 and 3 course meal. As well, was Ala cart menu. Todays special was written on a blackboard. We all had cream of broccoli soup with Parmesan and croutons. It came with bread and butter (£6.95). I also ordered smoked salmon wrap with cream cheese, served with crisps and coleslaw. For dessert they have variety of delicious cakes. I fully recommend this place for all meals.

What a pity!

My bestie treated me to breakfast so it may appear to be somewhat disingenuous to comment but will not return! Poor baguette a razor thin slice of smoked salmon, no apparent cottage cheese but a cucumber mayonnaise salsa ? Awful warm coffee, sticky table - was going to speak with the owner but he had mysteriously vanished! Perhaps he knew?
