Went here on a stormy March day for lunch with the family and had some of the beach seafood we've had anywhere! Scallops to start cooked to perfection, then spicy seafood jambalaya (generous chunks of fish mussels and prawns). Kids we're very happy with theirs too and the service was friendly and efficient. Bill was very reasonable for such flavour... More

WOW! Found this treasure after a quick check for places to eat near Slapton. We had the hot seafood platter to share between two. it was quite possibly the best seafood dish that I have ever had! All very fresh, perfect amounts- not too much or too little. I loved the fact we were seated in a shack style. Was... More

First impression is that this is a shack with an awning but once you step inside, take a look at the menu. If you like fish and seafood, you must give this place a try. My wife and I always used to visit the nearby Cricket Inn but this year the kitchen as closed, so we went to the only... More

Freezing cold in February so wrap up warm. Rustic experience. Food mainly fishy obviously but fresh as can be and well cooked. Non fishy choices good. Staff lovely. One of our party had upset tummy the next day but probably a coincidence? His recommendation - stick to the plain mains. Bring your own booze keeps costs down.

Stopped here for lunch whilst walking, just fancied fish and chips really! However once we got the menu there was so much more! Didn't really expect much from here, but left completely amazed! Me and the other half went for a Seafood Sharer and it was amazing! All the seafood cooked to perfect, lots of it, for a decent price... More

Visited with friends, shared a mussels started which was fine. Unfortunately two of us opted for the Jerk Monkfish and Scallops as a main. Both the scallops and Monkfish were over cooked and had no flavouring what so ever. The jerk part of the fish was a sprinkle of something on the rice. The rest consisted of a very bland... More

Sitting in a plastic tent in February may seem a strange place for an excellent review, but Britannia @the Beach deserves it in every way. The room is cosy and warm and the menu superb, staff are friendly and it's a bonus to be BYO. The menu is based on local catch and we had the wonderful fish pie (enormous... More

Stumbled across this place and what a find. After viewing the humpback whale in Start Bay we sat on a veranda with heaters eating a heavenly crab sandwich served by friendly staff. A moment to remember. Highly recommend. Offers byo with no corkage charge. Well done.
