Fab Food, good value

Popped in for a quick lunch having visited the Croydon venue on several occasions. We knew the food would be great but we really liked how much calmer it was than the Croydon venue which can be quite busy. We had Singapore noodles, egg fried rice, garlic chicken and mushroom and salt and pepper prawns for £31.00. Portion size always really good. Definitely would recommend. Very clean, tidy and well presented bar with good outside space too.

A nice visit with good friends

I went here with some friends on the 6th of November 23, the place is very large with plenty of seating, there is also I slightly raised area with more seating room, the toilets are located upstairs and were very clean and tidy, the pub is located on the Godstone Road in Caterham and has good local transport connections, bus and train are only a couple of minutes walk away, so onto the food, to start I had chilli paneer, now this was very nice and I thoroughly recommend it, but be warned it is hot, there was plenty of it too, for my main I had the mutta mushroom masala, this was also very tasty, the girl that served us was very friendly but her male colleague gave the impression he’d much rather be somewhere else but all in all a pleasant visit, another note of caution, I understand it can be a little rowdy on a Friday afternoon/early evening.

Best pint of Heineken

A great pint served as it should be and 6 small plates between the 3 of us , food is always good , we normally have a Chinese /Far East mix and it’s always fine , the bar is clean and modern , staff are efficient and friendly

Absolutely abysmal

If I could give it 0 stars, I would. Absolutely abysmal service. What went from working a long and tiring shift and wanting a relaxing evening with take out, turned into an evening of stress. Delivery driver had come to drop off the food, we had ordered a lot of food and drink cans/bottles and it was all in 1 flimsy bag. As the driver went to hand over the bag, he let go before I even held it. The over filled heavy bag of food and drink fell to the floor and glass smashed, drink poured all over the floor. My finger was cut. The driver said "sorry" and immediately walked off. My partner then spent the evening scrubbing the floor and aiding to my cut finger. Most of the food was squashed and had leaked sauce everywhere. Not edible. We had put in a complaint in for a partial refund, which I felt was extremely reasonable, however that got declined. What a waste of £60 for a dreadful, uncaring service. The restaurant are also deleting reviews such as mine off Justeat. They respond poorly with no customer service at all towards their paying customers. No empathy given to us at all, but instead puts "blame" onto us. Have seen them judge other customers based off what they've ordered. i.e., stating a customer has drank a bottle of wine first and that is why they don't like the food. A fake, rude, poorly run restaurant who just WANTS OUR MONEY. We will not be ordering from them every again! Be warned!!

Your safety and satisfaction are of utmost importance to us and I'm truly sorry for the distress this incident caused you. I'd like to clarify that the delivery was handled by a Just Eat driver and not our in-house team. We ensure that all our orders are securely packed before they leave our premises. If the bag was dropped during delivery, it's an unfortunate accident but not a reflection of the quality of food and service we provide. I'd like to assure you that we do not have the capability to delete reviews on Just Eat. They are the only ones who can manage reviews, and in this particular case, they took action as they deemed appropriate, to remove your review, as this accident was no fault of the restaurant. I deeply regret that you felt our response was lacking in empathy. We always aim to address concerns with understanding and care. Very rude customer service, an hour wait for food to arrive & food was so bland!

Ordered a take away for a birthday celebration. Food took an hour to arrive, it arrived freezing cold, items missing and tasteless. Rang the Resteraunt and was greeted with extremely rude staff, explaining that this simply wasn’t their problem. I asked to speak to the manager, he explained that he would speak to the kitchen about the missing items that we had waited nearly two hours for from order to delivery. Manager put the phone down on us and then did not answer any of our calls. We never received any of the missing food or simply even an apology. We live around a 4 minute drive away from the Resteraunt but ordered a take away due to the children being unwell and having a meal at home. This literally ruined the evening. I will never be purchasing from this place again & would want people that the customer service is unacceptable. The food is already highly priced so for it to arrive so late, freezing cold and lacking any flavour at all was bad, followed by the sheer rudeness of the bar staff & the manager. Beware!

Delivery and quality of the food.

I have never actually been to Crown and Pepper but have had about 8 or 9 deliveries. The food is of a high standard and consistent. The delivery people are always friendly and the food hot even though I live a few miles away in South Godstone, they are in Caterham. The delivery charges is very reasonable especially as there is no minimum order. This is my go to place whenever I want a takeaway now. Good work!

First and Last time ordering food here!!

Gave a 1 star on just eat not the 3 that they put!! "Ordered Chicken Korma, Chicken Biryani, fish and chips, the Korma and Biryani was a lot spicer than getting from the Indian and the fish is a lot better from a fish and chip shop, overall £30 in the bin and ended up having to cook anyway !!!" If you want nice food then DO NOT eat here!!!!

Very Impressed!

We were very impressed!! Myself and partner attended on 15th July for their White Summer Party event, so thought we would make a night of it and had dinner before the DJ started The food was amazing, we had the prawns in breadcrumbs to start with, which were really nice, we then had the Desi chicken curry and king prawn curry, which were really flavourful, the food all arrived hot and the portions were generous too! The DJ was brilliant, we had a really fun evening and will definately be back again, very soon!

Disappointed.

Placed an order of chinese food for the first time from Crown & Pepper. By far the worst takeaway we've had. Half of the order was inedible and didn't taste fresh. Will not be ordering again.

Great pub and restaurant

Been here a few times for drinks . It's a big place with comfortable and spacious seating . Very clean restaurant and toilets . Been twice now for lunch . Fabulous deal . £15 for two . I totally recommend the paneer curry and the amazing paneer wrap it was so lovely with a fiery dip on the side . Staff here are lovely too

Great place to eat with friends and family

Great place to eat with the family. We had ages ranging from 6 to 73 and everything in between. Huge choice on the menu meant everyone found something they liked. The food was delicious, hot and portions were very generous. Friendly staff, good atmosphere and reasonable priced drinks. Will certainly be recommending to friends and hope to be visiting again soon.

Service was awful. Waited 20 minutes to be given a menu, had to go up to ask to order food, also had to go up to ask for the bill. There was a group of 16 that came in after us, although they were spilt into 3 tables they were all mixing so might as well have no COVID restrictions in this place. They were given menus promptly despite us not even receiving them yet. We ordered food before them yet our food came after all 16 of them received theirs. Service really let it down as the food was nice.

Unfortunately the groups which turned up never booked hence it put a lot of extra pressure on the staff which normally cope for Sundays. Despite us telling people to sit in their groups some people don't listen and there is nothing we can do on that. Our food is cooked to order and both our chinese and indian dishes take different times to cook so some people will receive their dishes quicker then others. Sorry for the delays you experienced.

Very disappointing experience

Have been here many times to eat and never had any problems and staff usually really friendly, however todays experience what far from that. We went for lunch bang on midday, knowing the pub only just opens and it would not be busy. In fact at that time we were the only customers in the restaurant area, with a whole one other guest in the pub. We decided to take my autistic niece on this occasion as we are trying her in new environments and every pub so far have been extremely accommodating and friendly, not today. As stated there was no one else in the pub, my niece took her shoes off and was running in the seating area (there were no other diners). The manager asked to put her shoes back on due to potential glass being on the floor, totally accept this and with a slight struggle the shoes were put back on. However the way in which the manager ask was extremely rude and unfriendly, we explained she is autistic and will do our best to keep her in one area. The manager persisted to stand there and give us beyond dirty looks, tutting and staring continuously. Making us feel very uncomfortable. My niece was in fact very happy and loving being in this new place, my niece took a liking to the carpeted area so we moved our stuff to a different table to we could keep a closer eye on her. The manager took offensive to this and again was very rude in the tone he spoke to us, he stated he had a table of 8 due in soon, which we totally understand and stated we were literally eating and then leaving so would be gone before they arrived, at this point we were still the ONLY customers present with ALL tables empty. This table of eight were due in an one hours time, we had already ordered so would be long gone before then and explained this to the manager. At which he raised his voice and again was extremely rude, we were causing no issues and purposely came before any other customers so my niece could experience and new environment. An environment she was extremely happy in, however the manager was so rude and uncomfortable with his staring that my sister-in-law had to pack up her food in take away containers and leave with my niece. Never have we been somewhere that has been so discriminatory and not understanding of learning difficulties, even with us explaining and being polite. Disgusted with the customer service from this manager, the waiter was extremely polite and friendly and perhaps should teach his manger a thing or two.

Superb restaurant

Visited February 10th for quick bite before night out. Ordered drinks at the bar and enquired about food, the guy who served us was very helpful and friendly, invited us to take a table and brought the drinks over. We ordered some Chinese bits off the excellent menu. Food was fantastic, the service was impeccable.. Would highly recommend this as a place to go, great atmosphere, brilliant all round.. 10 out of 10...

Ordered from here a takeaway since we are in lockdown,,waited 2 hours for food. When food arrived part of order was wrong rang to say they had got the order wrong was told by 9 their kitchen was closed to ring back in the morning for a refund.. rang the next day when they opened explained the situation that was told to call back for refund ect for the rude piece of s**t to say theres people out here dying and your whinging over a refund! The fact I explained I was allergic to and ingredient they put in the burger and that I could have infact ended up in hospital and or dead was beside the point he just Hung the phone up..tempted to ring back to no answer. Probably should name and shame but here we are Kosso have a word and say you told us to ring back for a refund yuu told us you understood that yuu was unable to refund because there wasn't an option on your till and that we would get our refund the following day Rude!!!
