We stopped by on impulse towards the end of lunchtime but the landlord was happy to accommodate us. Traditional choice of roast lunches and generous portions at a good price. Good atmosphere and good service but could have been a bit cleaner.

I wanted to share what a magnificent place The George Inn was for my Wedding day. We found the George via our friends, almost 5 months ago. Id had issues with my original venue and needed to find a somewhere I could hold my intimate winter woodland wedding. When I took a drive to The George and met Gordon and... More

Only managed to have a drink, or few, didn't get round to eating here. The menu did look appealing though! Good range of drinks, some nice beers and dog friendly too!

As the name suggest, this is a Georgian Coaching Inn, with commensurate decor. The comfortable lounge/dining area is popular for small groups or to hide away, with antique prints and a roaring fire in winter. The restaurant area is well laid out and flexible, so can accommodate large or small groups. The menu changes daily, with a few staple favourites,... More

An okay pub, drinks expensive and food was average but the prices were not! Staff were surly and unfriendly except for one bar person who was very nice, the rest of them seemed to think guests were a nuisance. The only time they appeared to be friendly was when they were serving the locals who congregated in the cellar bar.... More

On a recent trip to the USA, I tried to explain the British Country pub and what makes it different and special from any replica over there. Can't think of a better example than The George , hidden away in a sleepy Somerset village.
