I wanted to share what a magnificent place The George Inn was for my Wedding day. We found the George via our friends, almost 5 months ago. Id had issues with my original venue and needed to find a somewhere I could hold my intimate winter woodland wedding. When I took a drive to The George and met Gordon and... More

Only managed to have a drink, or few, didn't get round to eating here. The menu did look appealing though! Good range of drinks, some nice beers and dog friendly too!

As the name suggest, this is a Georgian Coaching Inn, with commensurate decor. The comfortable lounge/dining area is popular for small groups or to hide away, with antique prints and a roaring fire in winter. The restaurant area is well laid out and flexible, so can accommodate large or small groups. The menu changes daily, with a few staple favourites,... More

An okay pub, drinks expensive and food was average but the prices were not! Staff were surly and unfriendly except for one bar person who was very nice, the rest of them seemed to think guests were a nuisance. The only time they appeared to be friendly was when they were serving the locals who congregated in the cellar bar.... More

On a recent trip to the USA, I tried to explain the British Country pub and what makes it different and special from any replica over there. Can't think of a better example than The George , hidden away in a sleepy Somerset village.

My friend and I were the only people in the pub today for lunch. We were made to feel welcome and the ambiance was lovely. I liked the lit candles on the bar. The starters we chose were enormous! Tasty venison pate and salad ( I wish restaurants wouldn't put great thick slices of red onion on salads!) Just one... More

We had a wonderful lunch in a traditional, light dining room with interesting empty picture frames (for you to imagine your own art or portrait?) My pie was a perfect island, sat on Savoy cabbage, surrounded by rich onion gravy! The 'chips' were out-standing: crispy & cooked to perfection! A delightful meal, we'all definitely be back!

We visited Wedmore for my Sister's wedding and stayed 2 nights. The pub is very old and quaint, it has 2 bars on 2 levels with a small lounge area and a big restaurant. The room was lovely and very boutique. Bar & Restaurant staff were all really lovely, especially Courtney. The food at Breakfast was a gastronomic feast and... More
