Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Phoned in our order to make sure the GF options were ok for the coeliac in our family and felt reassured by the information given. All our meals were ready on time, piping hot and delicious - nicest fish suppers we’ve had for a while....Luckily we live just a short drive away so will be back soon for more!More

Very disappointed with the service received. The staff did not take into consideration different dietary requirements and made us look very stupid for asking for reasonable adjustments. Despite this, we gave it a try and my daughter found a hair within the batter. To top...it off, the curry sauce was powdery and my entire family did not enjoy it. Extremely disappointed!! Would recommend Linda Fish and Chips! :)More

This review is confusing me because I don't recall any customers asking for us to make adjustments to their food. If this had been the case and we didn't take into consideration different dietary requirements (which could be life threatening), why did you order food...More

Having eaten at the excellent Portknockie Fish & Chip Shop numerous times, I am compelled to respond and highlight that the review from ‘james f’ is not authentic. The reputation that this chip shop has is outstanding. Many people drive many miles to enjoy the...excellent food here (they actually drive past many other chip shops along the way to get to Portknockie!). James F obviously has some sort of nasty cowardly gripe towards the owners, even though I can’t imagine what it is because the two business owners and the staff are all exceptionally lovely and so hard working. This chip shop is impeccably clean and so efficiently organised, and the food is always outstanding. James F has said that the food is poor quality - it is not. In fact you can’t get better quality anywhere else. James F has stated that the food has no taste and the Pop Pop recipe has gone down hill - both of these statements are enormously false. If any of these statements were correct then why is the food so popular? James F has stated that the chips are floury - they’re right on that one because that’s the sign of a great chip! James F is obviously lying and in addition they can’t even spell or string a coherent sentence together. It appears they missed out on a lot of schooling it seems to me. I write this review because the review from ‘James F’ is blatantly a false review which is trying to discredit this business. FYI, I am not involved in this business in any way, and in fact I don’t even live in Scotland, but I always visit the Portknockie Fish & Chip Shop every time I am in the area. Please ignore the review from ‘james f’ (who I suspect isn’t even a male but is probably a female). It’s also worth pointing out that ‘james f’ does not have any other reviews on Tripadvisor. It’s so clear that they have purposely created their false review to try and undermine this business. They won’t succeed because the reputation of this business is as high as it could possible be. Please visit the Portknockie Fish & Chip Shop. It truly is outstanding in every way!More

If you were really a regular customer you would come to us with any problems. If you were really a ‘knocker’ you would spell it correctly and if you knew anything about good chips you would expect them to be floury.
