Wonderful lunch. The house foie gras salad was fresh and interesting. The octopus was tender with a lovely dressing, Veal was beautifully cooked as well as the Tuna. The staff were very friendly and accomodating.
This restaurant is a real gem . The food by La Table de Valerie is really fantastic . The menu is varied and the Plat de Jour is a great addition . We had Moussaka which we all thought was the best we had ever...had . Great ambience and service is excellent .More
A quiet Thursday in September took us to the village of Poilhes where we popped in to the Vinauberge to reserve a table and then went for a canal-side walk. The walk took a little longer than we thought so we called and pushed the...reservation back by half an hour. The owner was relaxed and, although it was towards the end of the midi period and the end of the season she and her co-worker could not have been more attentive and accommodating. The starters were delicious and the cote de boeuf (from Galicia in Spain) that we shared was really wonderful. We’ve visited the Vinauberge two or three Times before but this one was special.More
Booked late in the day for a family dinner on holiday in the area and were delightfully received by all staff. Great knowledge of wines and the local wine was so delicious and good value we brought some home. Highlight had to be the steak...- a plate to share and what flavour. All the food, including the children’s (& they adapted meals for our little veggie) was gorgeous. The service was so warm and friendly, the setting magical. And don’t miss Douglas the dog and his entertainment at the end! Brilliant from start to finish! ThankyouMore
Impromptu stop here en route to Homps. Great wine, brilliant service and huge knowledge. Dined on a Tuesday when the kitchen is closed but they have a pop up, mobile food van and this was excellent. Recommend highly!
Nice setting, good wines at very reasonable prices. Food was really average - and really expensive for what it was. Would suggest just having a few sharing platters, rather than the main meals. Service was a little two quick, we were half way through a...bottle of wine, and the waitress came over to ask what wine we would like next - repeating this about 3 minutes later.More
My family of 6 plus our two dogs and I had a wonderful evening with the exquisite dinner at the Vinauberge in Poilhes, where we staying. The Vinauberge was only 3mins from our House and had the most lovely location. We dined outside, and the...area was beautiful. Very authentic and charming. Throughout the dinner the waiters were very efficient, kind, and attentive. They made sure to get water for our dogs, which is always a plus in my book! They offered to let us come inside the restaurant to pick and taste the wine we would like with our meals. We had different courses from the small but interesting menu. One had the vegetarian dishes and was happy. Two had great fish, one had tartare and two had the large Cote de boeuf to share. Everything was just great with fresh vegetables. The desserts were also very good! My peach soup with apricot sorbet will never be forgotten - a hot summer day on a dish! After a lovely dinner, we went inside to pay and were informed that there was also an art exhibition if we would like to have a look. It was very interesting to talk to the two young people who had started this place only four months prior. They explained how the place used to be a so-called “vin coopérative” and a restaurant. They have added apartments - some even with a private pool. We wish them all the best as young entrepreneurs. I would definitely recommend to eat or stay here when in Poilhes!More
We booked a table for a party of four for a 'special birthday' meal after sampling some wine there during the afternoon. The food was outstanding. We all had four courses except myself, having decided that the first one was so amazing I had to...have it again to finish the meal! That was the lychee ceviche. Danielle and her team were welcoming and attentive. This was the first GREAT meal since our arrival in Marseilles 5 days earlier. Hats off to this young team.More
Great way to taste the local wines. Enjoyed the card dispensing system. Just had to remember to use a glass every time.... 😬 The staff were lovely, and attentive. Enjoyed tasty coffees later.
Stopped here for lunch whilst cycling down the canal du midi. Beautiful surroundings outside, food was quite simple but fresh and very well put together
This restaurant has a fantastic ambience the best in Poilhes. The food and service are excellent with great wine . The only comment is they make the Fixed Prix Menu Option rather complicated !
The Vinauberge is right on a bend on the Canal Du Midi and the building is gorgeous. I visited last week just as they had opened again and the food was lovely. There was a lamb special for Easter which my boyfriend had and enjoyed...and I had a steak which was lovely. Great array of wines to choose from and friendly service.More
We cycled from Capestang to Poilhes and stopped to look for a shop in the afternoon, but the epicerie was shut. We stopped here for a drink but the waiter was so helpful and we were quite hungry so we ended up ordering food and...ice creams too. The ambience was lovely and peaceful in the garden and we enjoyed ourselves hugely. The waiter was extremely helpful and very pleasant.More
We had dinner here in Saturday evening and were very happy customers. My companion chose the salads nicoise which is a very difficult thing to get right and this one passed the test.It featured some seriously good seared tuna and while it lacked anchovies all...the other essentials were present and really delicious. I chose the vegetarian pizza, not a usual choice for me on a Saturday night but I am so glad I did as it was out of this world.Possibly the lightest pizza base ever, scattered with goats cheese and some yellow peppers.Descriptions seem inadequate as this really was haute cuisine pizza. Our wine a rose and red from their cave were sublime and just four euros a glass. The service was excellent, calm charming and attentive. Our table was outside in their dreamy garden with a fountain in full flow. My only criticism was the dessert. The menu read as very banal choices and after the surprise with our mains I decided to go with the Dessert surprise de chef. What arrived was a strange under sweetened concoction of eggy coconut base with some fruit on top with a strange mayonnaise type varnish.Truly awfull. So perhaps go for the more predictable options. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. It's in a small village on the canal du midi on the Beziers road from Capestang in the Languedoc region of France.More
