Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stunning food. Great service. Friendly owners and staff. Highly highly recommend. This was really fabulous food. We had dorada and seabass with potatoes and vegetables, for pudding; creme brulee and chocolate mousse, and we drank water and the bill was 34 euros. We were full and very satisfied. We met some fabulous people on the next table and had a great time. We will be back again and again and again. Muito obrigada.

While driving through and around the Gerês we stumbled upon this restaurant. The service was quick, food was fresh ( we had the grilled octopus with cabbage, carrots, potatoes. ) and the staff delightful. The restaurant is decorated with tradition clay dishes and an assortment of vintage cookbooks. Absolutely worth the trip.

We went hiking in the national park in the AM and once we were done we were starving. This restaurant had good reviews on Google so we walked there. There were many tables -- we were told to sit anywhere. We sat outside on the veranda. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. We ordered the local beef, cachena. We ordered the "for two" portion not realizing how much food it would be! Two large steaks, grilled vegetables, potatoes, and rice (loved the orange peel). Simply prepared with olive oil, garlic, and herbs. It was delicious. One of the best meals we had throughout our time in Portugal. Highly recommend1

We have selected just by chance this friendly restaurant in this beautiful village. What a chance! The cachena, the local beef, its juicy taste and its perfect way of cooking was remarkable! I still feel it’s fantastic flavor in my mouth. The service and the daurade, just like the duck were also excellent. However the cachena was really a trouvaille, a novelty for us. And later we saw those animals walking all around the village - absolutely a local specialty! This was January, we have to come back in the spring or summer!

We ate here on the two nights that we stayed at Soajo. This is a family-owned restaurant, run with enthusiasm, friendliness, and the love of top quality ingredients and traditional cooking. Come here and be greeted sincerely, fed very well, and welcomed back again.

Local restaurant, with great and fast service But more importantly the steak for 2 was excellent. Superior price quality. Accompanied with nice local red wine.

Lovely food at this village restaurant. We had the best steak we’ve had in years. Friendly welcoming service too.

This restaurant was recommended to us by friends that have eaten there many times. We were not disappointed. We shared the local beef dish, the meat was cooked to perfection. The very helpful waitress suggested a local wine to accompany the food and that was lovely too. This is a place not to miss when staying in Soajo.

The night we went there the staff were frantic with busyness as I think there was a bus tour group arriving. Despite this the waitress managed to be friendly and clear in between rushing around the place. We had tuna and duck. The duck (excellent) came with potatoes which were good and a cabbage side which was only ok. I also sampled the local home brewed wine. It was an 'interesting experience' but suggest getting the bottled variety instead of the wine poured out of a plastic jug.

A very well none place for it’s great dishes, and it did not disappoint us. Very small house but also with the possibility of eating on the outside. It’s family restaurant, so you will have all the attention.

Great value for money, free appetizers and a tender steak. The friendly host speaks a little bit of english, but gives you a warm welcome to the restaurant. Sometimes there is only a little selection of dishes, but the food offered is honest and good.

We enjoyed the small town atmosphere of this restaurant. Service was fine. One of the higher end restaurants. Did not care for the house wine. T was recommended to us for their specialty- the local grilled beef.

My wife and I have been back from Portugal for a week now and still have not stopped talking about how amazing this restaurant was. We hadn't done any research into where to eat in Soajo, so this was a super lucky find. Excellent service, great location, and the food was really really good. We came two nights in a row and ordered the Posta de Cachena both times. Really tender steak along with grilled vegetables/fruit (potatoes, zucchini, red peppers, pineapple) and cabbage/lemon. This was the best meal we had in Portugal, and compares to some of the best dishes we've had anywhere in the world. One tip...if you can, visit Peneda Geres in the shoulder season (we came in March), as you will feel like you have the place completely to yourself.

There are very few eating options in remote Soajo, so this typical restaurant comes out handy and is indeed a good choice! Portions are big, two people have more than plenty on the plate, and dishes are clearly explained before ordering! Desserts are available and cards are accepted, the food is excellent! Just beware of the famous Portuguese trick: laying some starters on the table and never informing they are charged, even if you don't touch them! They tend to play the fool when the bill comes and do take the small amount out.
