Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Actually visited this place twice now. First time was off the back of a recommendation from a family member and it was so lovely I went again. Both times I had the beef roast dinner and it was simply delicious. Not only was the food...good, the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend, and I cannot wait until my next visit!More

I eat here regularly, always exceptional food and my go to place to take family and friends. I took my mum and sister a few months back for a Sunday roast, it was the first time for both of them and they were Absolutley blown...away with the quality of the food, and have since returned with their husbands and friends. I took a couple of friends here last month for a 30th birthday meal, and again they were blown away with the quality of the food. Everytime I have been the food has been Absolutley fantastic, the place is always immaculate and the staff can’t do more for you. One of my favourite places to go for many reasons! Would HIGHLY reccomend!!!!!More

We went for lunch here for my uncles birthday and although a little pricey we thought we would give it a go. The bar staff were fantastic on arrival I cannot fault them. Mains were lovely although like many places the veg was only partly...cooked and looked a little sorry for itself. My friend asked the manager (I presume the manager) if there were any food scraps for her dog who was with us and was told no by the manager who then shook her head as she walked off which I thought was unprofessional. Considering it is a dog friendly pub?? We were then one dessert short and my Nan said we were missing a marmalade tart dessert which we now know was a ‘treacle tart’ I felt the manager was quite abrupt to my Nan considering it was their error to have missed it off. One dessert was ordered but the kitchen had run out which wasn’t checked before taking the order. So all in all nice food, maybe asking too much in price but slightly let down but the managers attitude and abruptness which creates an atmosphere in the dining room.More

Fabulous food, nice atmosphere and a great team. As a Coeliac I have to be careful of where I eat out. The many choices of gluten free options and knowledge of all staff made it so easy for me. I highly recommend and cannot wait...to return.More

Really nice Saturday Lunch. Loved the lighting including fairy lights and a big fire. I had the salmon special and my Fiancé had the burger. Both very very tasty. The service was really good, the best we have seen in some time. Nicely busy but...we didn't feel rushed or like the staff coulsnt handle it. Deserts were really nice, we would have preferred a traditional Cheese cake to one in a glass as the biscuit base was a bit dry. However, still tasted nice. The Bruha beer was apparently delicious too!More

The landlady is an excellent host and she has brilliant staff. The meal was top notch. Although we arrived earlier than our booking we were made welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend and will visit again when in that area.

Always superb food. Good selection of choices. Even does take away food (although this is limited on choice and can sometimes be dry when you get home) Pudding evening excellent. Only 4 stars because of the price unfortunately.

A lovely setting and a good range of dishes to choose from. The main courses were lovely, including the slow-cooked beef, chicken supreme and soup. These all tasted great. Nobody in our group of five had any complaints. The location is a lovely setting, with...a log burner and contemporary-meets-traditional ambiance in the bar and restaurant. This was well balanced. I found it to be a tad expensive. Including, £16.50 for a quiche £18.75 for a chicken supreme. I appreciate that prices are more than just the meal themselves, but still when all things are considered, I found that these prices raised expectations too much and led me to cut back on drinks. A few areas which prevented a five star review: - the waitress was very attentive, but needs to relax a little. Be calm and less intense, as she did a great job but was coming across as trying too hard. - I personally did not like having a 'dog menu' on the same page as the ordinary menu. Reading about dog's dinners put me off selecting my own food. - the crumble dessert needed more crumble, as it was mostly filling.More

Really disappointing visit. We booked on Friday for 7 people at 6:30pm Saturday evening. I suggested this pub as we came a number of tiles 19 years ago and loved it.We were seated and another table of 9/10 seated after us.They were given priority (...maybe locals) , we are from Southwold, not seen as locals. We looked at the menu ( one on the website) and we were really disappointed that the beef dish was all sold out. This is poor organisation on behalf of the management. I heard the young male waiter tell the table of 9 that there were only 4 main menu burgers left and we asked him to book these out for our guests. We then panicked and asked him what else was low and he replied that the beef was nearly out.We then put in that order only to be told by the management that the table of 9 had he last beef. In future, communicate to large group bookings limited dishes before they arrive,so they can decide whether it is worth arriving. Secondly , an hour wait for food WITHOUT any communication to us is poor service. We paid our £200 bill and my friend tipped the waiters who had worked. The management need to go on a hospitality training programme.Shocking.More

I wrote a review over a Month ago after my first vist. Since then l must admit to frequenting the Queens Head for often than her in doors would like!! The Queens Head is infectious, so be warned!! In a good way. Exceptional young staff...very efficient, polite and welcoming. I have now eaten here on three occasions now and already booked for futer events, themed evening. My wife and l have very much enjoyed our three meals that we thourerly enjoyed. This included Sunday Lunch and a excellent Fish Night that offered a platter of a selection to Fresh Fish and Sea Food. This is a regular event and is held on the last Friday of each Month. Sorry for my over excitement, visit and you will experience something Different and l am sure you will enjoy your Experience Add to the above with a great welcome from Landlords Kevin, Kate and the locals. Such an overall great experience. Booking is essential. DennisMore
