Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Staff friendly, wine very good but food - oh my god it was awful. Starter inedible - couldn't get my knife through it. Steak way overcooked despite asking for medium rare. Ravioli completely inedible. Highlight were the chips. Warning - stay away from the food!...£97 for 2 people - rubbish!!!!More

We visited for a family meal and loved every minute! The food was incredible at such good prices and they certainly don't scrimp on portion size. The atmosphere is great and everyone very friendly. We will absolutely be back here.

Having been by this pub many times on passing we decided to give it a go for Sunday lunch. This was the best pub Sunday lunch we have ever had. Quaint country pub with a lovely ambience made nicer by the lovely girls working there...who were very attentive. We all had the roast. Great portions of meat and loads of lovely fresh veg with a generous jug of delicious gravy. Although presently full we still managed a dessert from of nice choice of puds crumbles and banofee pie Would definitely recommend and will definitely return.More

Excellently situated in a quiet local village. We tried our classic family favourite, a ploughman’s lunch. Some pubs give you the bear minimum to nibble on. But, the Chequers excelled themselves. Not only decent size portions but a large variety of local produce including Homemade...coleslaw, thinly cut fresh ham, cheeses and chutneys. Their ploughman’s lunch was well worth the price. Deserts were the same. Decent size single potions. With a choice of accomplishments like cream, custard or ice cream. I had banoffee pie with ice cream circular biscuit base, a thick layer of toffee and banana and a very generous helping of cream. The banoffee was out of this world. All of the staff especially the barmaid. We’re friendly, polite and very welcoming.More
