Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Plough has been our local now for some years and is located on the beautiful village green in Stalisfield. It has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The food is consistently of a very high standard and the service is also very good. Staff are...pleasant and always check that you are happy and have everything you need. We have never been disappointed. Although this is a review for dining, we have recently stayed in the beautiful holiday accommodation provided in a converted barn. This is also of a very high standard and well worth a stay.More

My husband and I had a fabulous dinner here for our anniversary. The service was warm and attentive and everything was perfectly cooked. We also stayed in one of the rooms which was wonderful, spotlessly clean and comfortable. The breakfast delivered to our room in...the morning was superb. Marianne was a wonderful host and nothing was too much trouble. I cannot recommend The Plough enough. We will definitely be back!More

We had an excellent lunch with friends at the Plough. Everybody in our party though their dishes were delicious, the best food in a pub we had had for some time. The service was good with helpful suggestions made. The only slight disappointment was the...machine produced coffee.More

Fabulous meal - food was divine - great subtle flavours, well presented and quality produce. We’ve only just discovered this gem and will be back soon. Highly recommended even though it’s off the beaten track it shouldn’t dissuade you from going.

Poor service but excellent food. We arrived early for a pre lunch drink. Bar staff did not listen that we were happy to wait for the time we were booked in to take up our table. Thus said we took to the sofa to enjoy...a drink and the starters were excellent. Sunday roast was ok. Had better, had worse. On receipt of the bill very surprised at price of wine bearing in mind price point of food and beer. Had asked for my fav sauv blanc. No alternatives offered or discussed. £13.55 for a glass of wine is extortionate when a pint of beer is £5.90. Would have expected to pay around £9. Will not revisit.More

I randomly chose the Plough Inn when looking for a stop over between London and Eurotunnel Folkestone. The pictures on Google maps looked good. What a great choice it turned out to be. The rooms were very comfortable in a separate building behind the pub,...recently refurbished, very comfortable bed and good bathroom with separate sitting area on a mezzanine floor. Fresh milk was available for a morning coffee. Dinner was excellent, there is a hearty pub food menu but the specials were amazing, the best venison we have eaten for a long time (and that includes at a number of Michelin starred establishments), the quail starter was also excellent, really good flavours. The cheese board had a good selection to choose from and the cheeses were ripe and ready to eat NOT dull and just out of the fridge as is often the case elsewhere! A great bottle of Burgundy at a decent price finished things off nicely (again not to be found in some of the London restaurants these days). If we lived closer we would be here regularly- as it is we will be visiting again when we next go to the Tunnel and maybe stay more than 1 night.More

Lovely setting, excellent accommodation. Fixtures and fittings all first class, comfortable bed. Proprietors helpful and friendly - nothing too much trouble. Had dinner in the restaurant on two nights (out of three). Interesting menu and excellent dishes. Breakfast is delivered to your room at a...time to suit you. My fruit platter was a work of art! Highly recommend.More

We decided to try The Plough Inn after reading glowing reviews. We were not disappointed - firstly the homemade bread was delicious, soft on the inside, crunchy outside, perfect! I’m not a big fan of beef so opted for the chicken, moist and tasty, with...plenty of well cooked vegetables, and I added a yorkie to my meal. My husband loves roast beef when we sous vide it at home but is always disappointed when we eat out, on this basis he too ordered chicken with a beef supplement - he was not disappointed and next time will go for the beef entirely! Dessert of orange pavlova was worthy of a Michelin star (we eat in many Michelin restaurants) and so much nicer than desserts we’ve had in Michelin or AA restaurants! Remind me of the oil and micro herb accompaniment, it was delicious. The pub is 45 minutes from our home but was well worth the trip. Will we be back? - definitelyMore

Just stayed here for my husband’s birthday, and had drinks and dinner whilst there. The room was so lovely and well thought out. In such a beautiful peaceful location! Dinner was lovely, in a really nice chilled restaurant. We ate a lot! All the staff...were really friendly, welcoming and helpful. My husband even got a happy birthday song and chocolate, which was very thoughtful too. And we arrived too early for the bar to be open but the guy working said he was happy to still serve us :-) I can’t wait to come back one day as this was such a good find!More
