Have eaten here a few times now and find the food and service excellent. Has the feel of a local traditional pub, which is rare these days. Will certainly be going again. Very friendly staff too.More

We visited here again with the family for a birthday meal. They were happy to take bookings for the bar area as we had four dogs in tow. It was a bit noisy during the football but as it’s a pub bar on a Saturday...afternoon, it’s to be expected. We had a mixture of food from the menu and everyone enjoyed their meals. I’m not sure about an Eton mess in a sundae glass but it tasted nice. The beer here always seems good and they serve Prosecco in single measure bottles. The staff are always welcoming to us; When our Christmas meal here was cancelled because of the water situation, they were quick to refund our deposit. We are only temporary residents of Staplehurst and are moving away soon, we will miss this as our local.More

Hi, Thank you for your kind review, reviews like this help us continue to push forward and continue to work hard in making this a great pub for everyone to come and enjoy.
We hadn't visited for a while and thought we would have a mid-week meal to see what the 'new' menu was like. I ordered the chicken pie (as the steak pie had run out). It was very poor quality. Not much chicken and all runny...sauce. It was the consistency of Campbell's soup. The pies from the butcher's across the road are far superior, so it's a shame they can't source their pies from them. My husband ordered the fish and chips with 'signature batter' and that was equally as disappointing. Nothing signature about it at all. Quite a small portion for £15 as well. We first started visiting the King's Head about 6 years ago and it was very popular and the food was really good. However since then the pub has had several different managers and has steadily gone downhill. Ok for a drink but cannot recommend for food. 🙁More
