This was an extraordinarily dining experience, from the moment we walked in we were welcomed and served by the kindest & most attentive Omani hosts. The place smelled of frankincense which instantly calms you down after a long busy day. The food was well prepared and delicious; we especially loved the Omani Shiwa, the Sambosa, the yogurt salad, and the signature Halwa and frankincense ice cream. Portions were moderate, so you can definitely share and try as many dishes as you like. The location of the restaurant is superb, great for a little walk after dinner.

We were welcomed by the doorman in traditional Omani outfit. Behind the impressive wooden door, we entered a palace, really a splendid interior. We were the first guests (at 7.20 pm) but the restaurant got crowded during out dinner and was full when we left. It is a classy place, with distinguished guests, but the waiters and waitresses nevertheless treated us very carefully despite our sometimes loud 5 years old son in shorts and t-shirt. Our starters and main courses were excellent, they kindly shared the dishes so we could try both. I recommend the camel meat. They cooked a special dish for our son and offered the sweets at the end of the dinner. Service was excellent, easy to get the bill and pay with the credit card. Really a great experience!

We had a really good time at this restaurant next to the beautiful opera house. We enjoyed the gorgeous ambience, the food and the company of the lovely and always present staff a lot! It was the best restaurant we were able to find. We ordered the menus as they allow you try a variety of dishes. and we couldn’t be happier we the choice. Don’t get fooled by the small portions in my pictures, if you’re a big portion person. It was plenty of food as they offered you more of everything that you liked. We left more than satisfied. Highly recommended. Must visit when you’re in Muscat!

We read the good and not-so-good reviews and decided to try the Al Angham for its stylish local food. The food was pretty good, once we managed to get in when it opened about ten minutes after the advertised evening opening time which we had booked for. We had tried to go for a late lunch but despite enquiring long before it was due to end its lunchtime session, we were told it wasn't possible. And the food was tasty, but we were unsettled by the waiter's tactics when we paid the substantial bill. He had my card out of my sight for too long and I had to prevent him taking it away in the card machine (and take precautions after leaving the restaurant). Take care!

Loved the dinner we had here, top notch food, beautiful decor, and great service. The staff as dictated by the Sultan must all be Omani from the front of the restaurant to all of the chefs and the staff in the Kitchen. Food was outstanding, the freshest juices, great Lamb Shuwa, delicious tomato and lime soup, perfectly cooked breads and saffron rice, and the Prawn dish was incredible. Enjoyed every moment of the experience and the meal and the decor makes you feel as if you are having a Royal meal. Would certainly come back again, a must try while you are in Muscat. Not often you find an all local Omani team cooking and serving your dinner.

Amazing decor in the awesome opera house with fantastic friendly staff with exceptional food. A great range of traditional Omani dishes to chose from (including lots of vegetarian options). Make sure you finish with desert (DO NOT SKIP) and ask for the Omani desert tasting plate with an Omani coffee.

The ultimate display of Omani kitchen!! We were totally floored already by the breadbasket. Exploring the I believe 5 different kinds of breaks all traditional Omani. It just continued after that. For anyone with a not limited budget this is a must to experience Omani food

Great place for traditional food with great service in a peaceful environment. It was interesting to read some reviews in advance complaining about the service and the lack of alcohol - all I can say is that probably says more about the reviewers (and their inappropriate expectations) than the establishment and the staff........ The choice and quality of the food was great as was the service (understated and demure). Well worth a visit.

This was an amazing experience. The restaurant is owned by the Soultan of Oman. So he has decorated in very high standards. Cristofle cutlery, silver and gold table napkin rings, hand made carpets etc. The food is the best middle Eastern food I have ever eaten. It does not come cheap but lower than the value of the food and overall atmosphere.
You need a reservation. Overall they are not very easy to let you in. Maybe for safety reasons or because they dont really want to have a lot of people.

What a classy restaurant! From the people working to the Christofle knifes and forks ( I couldn’t believe my eyes) . The decor , local food dishes ( even camel I found tastyfound tasty) and fruit juices were fantastic. Since one can’t find alcohol in restaurants outside of hotels the omanis have taken fruit juices to another level. I’ve never had better fruit juices in my entire life. If in Oman just go, it’s inside the royal opera house. Another reason to simply visit it

Terrific meal, service and ambiance. Restaurant quite quiet for a Thursday evening, but this did not dampen our enthusiasm. Beautiful food, well-cooked and presented, attentive staff and stunning backdrop. A must-visit.

Excellent quality of the whole setting of the restaurant. Beautiful interior, beautiful table setting with Christofle cutlery and crystal glasses! And the service is equally good. The cuisine is typical Omani. However, if you are not used in specific spices etc (like cardamon or rose water) or cooking ways (I selected one of the Rice Main Courses, which looked like mash potato / pulp / puree), you might be disappointed. This is the reason for not overall rating it as excellent.

Situated next to the Royal Opera House, Al Angham restaurant is a true reflection of Omani cuisine. Charming decor in terms of architecture that appear clear in the various halls and venues of the restaurant. The unique Omani patterns, designs and silverware scatter in the different corners of the restaurant and the tables and rich use of wood all taken from authentic Omani heritage.
The restaurant serves traditional Omani dishes like Shiwa, Harees, Jareesh, O’rsyia in a modern presentation. This is what we lack in the UAE; a restaurant that serves real traditional Emarati dishes that you would normally find in houses and not just copy presentations with no real substance.
Choice between 2 set menus.

We decided to go to this restaurant because it was highly recommended by our hotel concierge and also I saw a huge ad on the Oman air magazine. We were super excited to go there because we had not tried Omani food before and the restaurant was in the opera house. We ordered the lamb, chicken biryani, and fish biryani. We walked away a little disappointed as we thought the food was mediocre. It was a lot of rice and barely any meat. Service was ok, not excellent, and in the end their card machine broke and asked us to go out to take some rials out to pay them. I think if you’re looking for a special dinner in Muscat, you can look for somewhere else.
