Potrei scrivere anche in italiano ma per i turisti scrivo in inglese. I know the restaurant world very well, and a restaurant that claims Michelin star accreditation should be more than complex flavors on a dish. The entire experience should be excellent from the moment...one enters to the moment one exits. If it were not so rated I would gauge my review accordingly, but here the final bill should be justified and this time it was not. Upon entering, the first impression seemed pretentious. The location has potential but the decor and furnishings lack refinement. The restrooms shall not be mentioned. We were sat in an entry area that was less front of house than back of house at a table next to two wine fridges which can hardly be compared to being seated near a glass enclosed wine cellar. It was not pleasant to hear them whirr against the background music which was playing so softly the atmosphere seemed to force total silence on tables which made conversation awkward. Staff were not relaxed, but rather trying too hard to be sophisticated. Service was not at the level of a starred restaurant. In any average restaurant if a guest has an empty wine glass they should not have to ask twice, and when pouring the wine no guest should be ignored but in a Michelin rated restaurant the glass should never reach empty in the first place, especially in a place with two waitstaff serving only 3-4 tables. Other odd behaviors such as the excessive crumbing of the table or double fisted water pouring as if it were a race to fill glasses. At one point the hostess/server came to our table from the kitchen while chewing something she’d been eating…one might expect that in a diner but not here. The waiter/‘sommelier’ who looked no more than 20 was asked to give a recommendation for a pairing to our dishes but he deferred to my suggestion and merely pointed out where the style of wine I asked about was on the list. His food presentations were rushed and nervous and at one point he was so agitated he overshot a wineglass letting wine drip down the stem, but did not clean the glass. The food presentation was appealing, quality was high, flavors were creative and above the average but the combinations did not overly impress. For example, the duck was a bit bland and wagyu was slightly overcooked. Other dishes were enjoyable. Perhaps they had an off day. In my opinion the food is still worth another try but floor staff are neither trained nor experienced enough for this level of restaurant.More

Food and drink aside, which I'll come onto, a lovely touch was Chef being their at the end of the night to talk to his guests. When we were leaving he asked us to wait a moment so he could speak with us - other...places should take note. We knew from the outset that we'd be having their 'raw and cooked' sea tasting menu, along with matching wines and it did not disappoint at any stage. Their 7 course menu was accompanied by 5 (actually 6) glasses of wine. The food just kept coming, starting off with 3 little amuse bouche, before the bread arrived. Next up was langostine two ways (two separate dishes), before beautiful scallops were offered. A small, well crafted sweet and savoury snack followed (this was one of the greatest aspects of the meal, despite it being a palette cleanser. We then moved onto the main courses, which consisted of pasta (with lobster - though was our least favourite), before moving onto calamari spaghetti and turbot risotto (these two courses showcased how to turn seafood into something it's not - there was no pasta or rice in these dishes). The final savoury was pan roasted fish and was a nice way to end the chef's savoury offerings. Pre-desert was celery soup that was a good way to cleanse the palette again. Then moving onto the chef's signature deserts, all of which was devine with 'cherry falling from a tree' being the overall winner. Overall a lovely evening was had, and I wouldn't hesitate to come back to try their other tasting menu. Hats off to the chef for showcasing his talents and then coming to speak to us about it.More

We entered the world of Bacilieri for the third time now and immediately found a smile waiting at the entrance, a quiet warm ambience in the new renovated place, light sweet music in the background. We had a tasting menu which we were very happy...to see it changed but kept our favorite course so that we had a totally new, yet equally great experience. The food is so delicious that using words to describe it would be an offense to the chef - who took his time to come and say hello and exchange a few words in a fully packed busy evening. The team is very attentive and nice, relaxed. It is a must have experience dining at Bacilieri once in Ferrara.More

On the outside you almost miss this fine location. Only a few tables in a nice atmosphere. We had the menu with 7 courses. The only negative point is that they try to keep up the speed so you don’t stay until closing time. The...chef likes variations on on ingredient and to surprise you with dishes that look like something they are not made from.example: fish looking like risotto. A lot of great wines for a reasonable price. Definitely the place to be if you like. Great dining experience for the whole evening or afternoon.More

Bravo to the chef and the staff. Dining at Bacillieri is an unforgettable experience. To start was a complimentary cold lemon beverage and a pumpkin cream. We had a polpo and shrimp appetizer which had the finest seafood prepared with great skill and served artfully....Complex tastes accompanied the seafood in all our dishes. Next was a pasta dish with mussels and clams and a perfectly seasoned sauce. Secundo was Branzino , prepared to perfection, Desserts are not only very tasty, but served artistically, as were all our plates. Our waiter was attentive, but not hovering. Very helpful and friendly. And to end the evening we were able to meet the chef and personally thank him, A gracious restaurant with a very talented chef and outstanding staff who truly know fine food, perfect presentation and ambiance.More

Exceptional, refined meal - both the food and wine. Highlight was the duck with fresh cherries - perfect balance of sweet and salt. The deconstructed tiramisu was also amazing. If ever in the region again, we’ll be sure to return!

Absolutely loved this place - I’ve never left a review on TripAdvisor before but felt I should as I decided to try this place for dinner based on what I read. I can’t overstate how excellent it was. Good value for absolutely delicious food!! We...shared an entree with octopus and broad bean purée and a main of lamb ribs - they were so lovely and split the dish for us in the kitchen so they were plated perfectly! It meant we had enough room for a pasta dish each and dessert all of which were absolutely excellent - I had pasatelli with dorado and my boyfriend had rabbit ragu. The staff were all delightful and the chef came to shake our hands at the end. I honestly think it’s the best meal I’ve had in Italy and I could not recommend it higher. Make sure you book though as it was fully booked on the night we visited. Thank you for such a wonderful memory!!More

Let me say that I get a fantastic raw fish platter and a small appetizer so I eplored only a small part of the menu. Raw fish was great, perfect and good quantity. On the other side the appetizer was well prepared but not really...tasy, apparently was without dressing, Very strange. They have a wide wine choice with some "fashion" organic wines whihc are too much organic, so that at the end they are quite difficult to understand. As a suggestion ask to taste before to order a full bottle. I wouls say ideas are good but I ws unable to taste them. In any case I will go back to better check.More

Over my 30 years of travel in Italy I like to eat the classic local dishes and they are unique from each region including having pumpkin cappellacci in Ferrara; however it is worth a visit to Cucina Bacilieri to have an inventive dining experience. I...had the Seafood tasting menu and it was a great value. Service was exemplary. They helped with wine choice and clearly picked the best and not the most expensive choice.More

We were a party of 3 in the Cucina Bacilieri for diner. We ordered the fish menu. The table attendant warned us that there was a new fish menu not shown on the menu card. This menu would be 5 euro more expensive and the...cook would prepare dishes as he felt. And boy did we get a fantastic meal. I total 7 courses with the finest fish he had present. We were very pleased moreover did the waiter advise a very good bottle of wine at a moderate price. This restaurant is really the climbing star in Ferrara. RecommedableMore
