This was one of our favourite restaurants so far on our current Italy trip. It won't matter where we eat during the rest of our vacation, Il Gatto e La Volpe will maintain a lofty place on our list of favourites. The restaurant is located...More

The atmosphere is welcoming. The food is interesting. Most places are all about pizza and pasta in this area. The seafood is good, razor clams were very fishy tasting, but most are, you can tell everything is fresh. The service is great, but don't expect...More

We visited this restaurant twice for dinner. It was quiet, but with excellent food and service. It is immediately to the east of the centre of Formia, with easy parking on the south side of the restaurant which can be reached from the main square.

We ate here as a last minute choice. The restaurant is abit isolated and it was practically empty on a Sunday evening. A lot of things from the menu weren't available and the food itself wasn't great. I had homemade gnocchi, which was a bit...More

All top-restaurants were closed, so we saw an ad with a cat and decided to stop for a meal here. A cat can't serve bad dishes, hah? Sure it can. To begin with, the dishes are too simple, meaning the cook can't think of something...More

We are a family of four from Denmark just returned from a lovely holiday in Formia. We found this osteria by accident one evening in Formia and had the best risotto and pasta for very long. We came back on our last evening and had...More

We had a delicious seafood lunch at this small friendly osteria in center of Formia. We shared in three an antipasto of capetroccole fritte (very tasty tiny octopus lightly fried), then skate baked with potatoes, and thin slices of swordfish rolled and baked with stuffing...More

The restaurant itself is stunning, the service was amazing, the waiter was very attentive and friendly. The food and wine were delicious, as well as the house-made limoncello. Highly recommend!

I have great respect to the Michelin guide. But sometimes I can not understand why one restaurant drew the attention of critics of the Red Guide. And another restaurant, which is located about twenty meters away from him - no. I was in both of...More

Tavern With the experience did touring Italy and Europe working in the restaurant business, the brothers Antonio and Giancarlo Simeone, in 1987 opened a small inn with traditional cuisine. The journey of Il Gatto e la Volpe begins: a small place in the historic center of Formia, which brushes up the recipes from other times and so-called "poor" and, appropriately revised, offers them to its clients. Without being influenced by a very specific paper, Giancarlo and Antonio offer what the area, with its sea, the countryside and pastures, seasonally offers, to taste the right "local" product at the appropriate time.Verandah The Restaurant Il Gatto e la Volpe, located in a former barn of the old district of La Mola, a few meters from the sea, is an elegant and rustic place, of charming and suggestive atmosphere, with a garden and a terrace. The typical local cuisine is mainly seafood and related products and local recipes. Offering a total availability of 60 seats, Il Gatto e la Volpe continues his journey in the culinary culture animating the table with some new and delicate creations, and ensuring the extraordinary freshness of the fish caught nearby.Winery Il Gatto e la Volpe has a wine cellar with a curated selection of more than 250 labels. The Wine List in fact, offers a careful selection of some of the best labels of Italian producers who aime to quality research and exploitation of indigenous grape varieties. A first selection is made in the regions of Lazio and Campania, as in the cuisine approach based on the reinterpretation of traditional territory, located in the geographical and historical context at the turn of these two regions. Then, all the other regions of Italy, from Aosta Valley to Sardinia.
