Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Best place where we ate in Abruzzo. Excellent typical products at a very low price. There are grills on which to prepare everything (you have to cook them on the spot). I recommend not to go at predictable times, you risk to find a lot of people and have to wait to prepare the food. Recommended menu for 2 people:
1. Homemade bread
2. Goat's cheese cream spread, to be eaten with bread, as an appetizer
3. A bottle of Montepulciano , which watering
4. 10 Sheep Roasts (Arrosticini) + 10 Liver Roasts (the latter are very good)
For less than 10 euros per person.
The meat is very good (I usually publish several photos of the food reviewed, this time we ate everything before I could even pull out the phone).

Back in 2019, we started planning to come to Europe/Italy for a year. Watching YouTube we discovered Ristoro Mucciante and it has been on our list of places to go for over 2 years.
The people behind the counter were very friendly and helpful explaining all the different meats, cured meats and cheeses. We ordered 20 arrosticini, and some of all their cured meats and cheeses. All the cured meats and cheeses were very good and the lamb for the arrosticni was probably the best we’ve had.
Although it was a bit cool the day we went, we feel like we got the full experience we were hoping for. People we’re grilling; talking; sharing stories, different foods and drinks. It was a very festive, warm, and inviting atmosphere. I’m looking forward to my next trip to Ristoro Mucciante.

We stayed in this restaurant after an excursion to emperor camp, all very kind honest prices very good meat. As soon as you arrive just take the number for the two rows, one for meat and one for bread and drink. They have a lot of variety of cuts of meat, from roasts to pork steaks to veal fillet, the most fun thing is of course the fact that you cook everything yourself on the grills and that you can eat in nature.

While traveling on a motorbike in Abruzzo, I would have liked to have lunch at Ristoro Mucciante as recommended by friends who had been several times recently and in past years. Unfortunately on a Sunday with splendid weather there were hundreds of people queuing up who had arrived on motorbikes, cars and even buses. So I had to give up given the hours of waiting, going to another booth on the Gran Sasso. I therefore recommend arriving very early on holidays or going on weekdays.

Excellent roasts, there wasn't a person in all of Abruzzo who didn't tell us about this little place. You buy the meat you want, you cook it on their embers and you eat outdoors: fabulous kebabs, splendid view. We arrived quite early for lunch, as they had advised us and in fact, despite it being a weekday, after an hour, there 'it was already the queue. 15 kebabs, a piece of pecorino cheese, two sausages, bread, a small bottle of red wine, a cola = total €28.

I was in this restaurant with my party for the day of August. We were afraid of finding a lot more people and a lot more lines, but I have to say that arriving by 10 we were fine.
Cute place with breathtaking views, there are many outdoor benches where you can eat your food, however they are all exposed to the sun and therefore Recommendation to bring umbrellas.
In theory it is not possible to introduce food, but I have seen people with coolers, drinks, sweets, sandwiches etc.
As for cooking meat, there are many “ovens” that are turned on by the staff and then the necessary (coal etc.) is provided.
Prices are normal: 100 arrosticini, 15 sausages, 7 pork chops, half a kg of bread, 3/4 bottles of water, 4 cokes and 3 bottles of beer, about 180€.
Plastic plates, cups and napkins can also be purchased.
Recommendation to bring oil in case you want to toast the bread!!
I'll be back!

Tables in the sun, who knows, bring the umbrella from home, otherwise they sell it at 30/40€, not if it can do without in July the sun exhausts you. Lines of 2/3 hours to buy the rosticcini to cook, another line for bread and water, the bathrooms do not talk about 45 minutes in a row.
There is only one fountain where you can drink, here again identical speech.

famous restaurant in a truly crazy location in Gran Sasso, a location known for some scenes from the film Trinità and many other Italian westerns. in the middle of nowhere, with the mountains around, this restaurant is a butcher's shop with various types of meat including kebabs, sausages, chops and steaks, cheeses, bread and everything you need for a picnic. the managers are responsible for lighting the many barbecues where you can cook your own meat. very popular place, so sometimes there is a bit of a crowd, but just move away a few dozen meters and you are back in contact with wild nature

I have been frequenting Mucciante since it was just a small shack more than 40 years ago managed by Mucciante's father. Over time his sons have been able to make a change by creating a refreshment point with many local specialities, making it a point of reference for thousands of people who arrive every day from all of Italy, also attracted by the suggestive plain of Campo Imperatore. Cooking the kebabs on the channels made available free of charge and eating them sitting while admiring the surrounding panorama is one of the greatest satisfactions.

Nice day at Ristoro Mucciante with friends. I didn't know the place but our friends did and we joined this trip. I don't like lamb so I was hesitant, but I have to say that I changed my mind, I really appreciated the kebabs, good meat, excellent bread! It is not a refuge with catering service but a point of sale of meat and typical products with grilled meats available, and tables to consume what you buy from them.
Very popular with bikers and campers, you take your number, queue to buy the meat and then have free access to the ovens which are constantly revived by the refuge staff. Salt and condiments are also available.
For the food part (bread, cold cuts and cheeses, you can make another row with another number.)
Cool place in summer, possibility of horse riding.
very little or no telephone signal to stay disconnected for a day to enjoy the mountains of Abruzzo.

Nice place to buy meat, sausages, roast meats and grill everything quickly with embers lit by the structure, good cheeses and cured meats, there is bread and they provide you with plates, glasses and paper cutlery. The area is suggestive. I would pay more attention to the details , such as providing free umbrellas and improving the toilet facilities. In any case, definitely worth a try for a nice outing.

Spectacular refreshment point in the middle of Gran Sasso. We stopped for lunch at 2pm on a weekday. Wait 20 minutes. We are not barbecue specialists, but the staff was very kind recommending arrosticini and sausage. Ready-made barbecue with hot embers and workers passing between the grills to provide any support. Also very good choice of cold cuts and cheeses.

Nice refreshment point at the beginning of Campo Imperatore (coming from Castel del Monte). Good roasts and cheeses, average prices; grills are made available on which to cook the meat.
Negative note: the place closes at 7pm and those who live (or try to live) the mountains seriously (and not like the many who go there just to eat and instagram a photo with the tag #mountainvibes or similar ridiculous things), it becomes difficult to have dinner - after an excursion and the subsequent shower - before 7pm.

Lovely location, immense spaces that just looking at them make you hungry. As if by magic, this butcher shop appears, a convivial and well-organized place. The line, often long, is however smooth and well managed: just take the number and you proceed quickly. After buying meat, arrosticini, cheeses, ribs and more, you can go out and find the braziers already hot, ready to cook the freshly bought products.
The embers are kept constantly burning, so there is no waiting. Salt and grills are available on the tables.
In addition to the beautiful setting of Gran Sasso, this butcher shop offers those who arrive here the opportunity to enjoy a lunch with flakes ..
