Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Six of us booked for lunch on February 10th in an Oak Pod. It was raining very hard but the Pod was beautifully warm and we could control it. The waiters ran through the rain as if it was no trouble, managing to keep the...food hot all the time. The meals were well cooked and delicious, without exception. Certainly to be recommendedMore

Me and my partner came for our anniversary and the service was perfect. The waitress was so polite and welcoming and accommodating for us. They let us choose our table, dimmed the lights, put a heater on for us near the table and very nicely...made us a desert with ‘happy anniversary’ written on the plate. And the food was incredible!More

We booked an Oakpod for a Saturday afternoon in January so 6 of us could celebrate ny wife's 40th birthday. We were a group of 4 adults and 2 children, and all of us had a fantastic experience and wonderful meal. The staff were friendly,...helpful and attentive. We were constantly looked after and never had to wait to order any drinks or ask for any help. All 6 of us had different meals, but everyone greatly enjoyed what they had. I have to say the fish & chips was the best I've had in a long time, and the minty peas were done perfectly without being overly flavoured or minty. The pod was fantastic. Great views, great heating and plenty of space. Even the manager came round several times to make sure we were having a good time and everything was perfect for us. I look forward to coming back as soon as possible.More

Christmas dinner 25th December. Absolutely awful. porcini mushroom & truffle parfait with toasted sourdough. Starter was horrible, tasted like mushroom mush grit.(vile) with a plain slice of thin white bread, toasted on one side only. no sourdough. (with no explanation) Turkey dinner. who smothers a...Christmas Dinner in thick rich gravy so you can't see what your eating. what happened to gravy boats, add the gravy where you prefer. couldn't see the rest of the dinner until I scraped the gravy off. potatoes very pale, yorkshire pudding soggy horrible. stuffing! have no idea what it was. looked like stuffing. tasted very strange and sweet. the dinner was Luke warm no veg to the table as stated on menu. no coffees or truffles offered at the end. £105 per head. absolute chaos. what a waste of good money... totally terribly disappointed you wouldn't believe. I wished we had all sent the dinners back. but who wants to upset anyone on christmas day. it wasn't the waitresses fault....... absolutely disgusting...... We booked the oak pods for a Christmas Eve lunch with friends - 7of us. We were shown to the pod and seated, music turned on, heaters and drinks order taken. The pods are so lovely, plenty of room, super cosy and felt really special....The food was absolutely amazing, every single one of us enjoyed what we had thoroughly - I had prawns pil pil which were gorgeous, followed by sirloin steak and this was very generous and cooked to perfection, such a delicious meal. Fish and chips, burgers, fillet steak amongst what others ordered. Desserts were just as good. Our waitress Sophie was amazing, looked after us all afternoon, not once did we have to ask for service, she was very tentative, making sure we didn’t need anything and she was friendly, and clearly enjoys her job. Thank you Sophie for looking after us and we will certainly be back again. Merry Christmas!More

A wonderful Christmas Eve family lunch ahead of a few busy days. We were met with a warm welcome from manager Gary and team and seated in the conservatory area of the restaurant which had a lovely relaxed atmosphere, just what was needed. Service was...good from the outset with plenty of staff to look after us, a table of 6 with our 7th running late due to work commitments. Hollie was our server and was very friendly, helpful, knowledgable and efficient. When we explained that we had one member of our party running late, it was no problem; her food could be ordered whenever she arrived with the kitchen being very happy to accommodate. Food was great; a delicious fondue starter to share whilst others had chorizo Scotch egg and the moules; everyone very happy with their choice. Mains came at a good and again relaxed speed with pork, beef and pasta dishes all going down well. All done deliciously. Warning, portions are big!!! All in all, a delightful visit with food and service both spot on. Thanks Gary, Hollie and all the team for looking after us so well, and Merry Christmas!More

We usually come every December around Christmas time as this is the time of my friends birthday. This year was by far the worst time we have ever been there after many frequent past visits. I came last December and chose the festive set menu...where I had no complaints at all and hence I was keen to order it again this year. I went for the three course one which was £38 (massive saving of 75p!) and had the salmon fish cake, roast Turkey, and cheesecake. The fishcake was very nice but an extremely tiny portion for nearly £10. The roast Turkey meal was abysmal when in comparison to last year. Simply just some Turkey wrapped in bacon, soggy roast potatoes, bit of kale and some crushed carrot all soaked in a very salty gravy (not served on the side). No usual trimmings such as Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, pigs in blankets etc all which was included last year. The veg as stated on the is server on the side however this didn’t arrive and I had to ask the waiter for this, which took around 10 minutes to arrive meaning my main was now cold whilst waiting. When it did come I was presented with some funny tasting red cabbage and overcooked broccoli so not exactly satisfying. The desert was average just your standard cheesecake which again was a tiny portion similar to the starter. From looking at other reviews it seems this place is really going downhill which is a shame as it is a favourite of ours, however I cant see us rushing back anytime soon.More

So disappointed, eaten here in the past and it’s been good. Food was awful, one of the short ribs was all fat and was inedible, potatoes hard. All in all a complete nightmare. Complained to the waitress about the short rib, said she’d tell the...kitchen, no offer of a replacement or reduction in bill. Thank goodness we didn’t book for ChristmasMore
