I visited here with my family on Tuesday. From the minute we walked in we were welcomed by a lovely guy (didn't get his name) who looked after us from start to finish. We ordered doughsticks to start and a grilled chicken and chips for...More

Having dined before and been impressed, my wife and I were disappointed with our last visit. Firstly, It asked for special instructions on the web site for booking... on completing the online form I mentioned it was my wife’s birthday...a “happy birthday “ from the...More

Stopped before flying with Bournemouth airport. As with every Vintage inn there was a good choice of draught ales - all local favourites. We both ordered pies, which were basically couldrons of meat and veg covered with a puff pastry top. Not a proper pie...More

We had a really lovely Sunday lunch here recently and its no surprise that the Curlew is usually fully booked! The roast dinner was great and not too big and my wife had the sea bass which she really enjoyed. We were lucky to have...More

A last minute sunday lunch took us to the Curlew, not cheap for a family of 4 but the price reflected the quality & you cannot grumble at that. Upon arrival, we had a very warm welcome despite being full to the rafters, shown to...More

On previous occasions we've always tended to eat early, between 4 and 6, and had enjoyed table service. This time, arriving before five, found it a bit different. Just a few people drinking near the bar otherwise an empty restaurant. Given lunch and specials menu and...More

We’ve been to The Curlew a few times as it is mid way family wise and the meals usually very good. Whilst the roast dinner was ok it wasn’t piping hot, the gravy in particular was just lukewarm and the beef very tough also the...More

Always a good place to go for lunch. Plenty of choice on the menu, and friendly staff. Can be busy though, so booking at weekends recommended. Lovely outside area for good weather and it's open all day for food - always a bonus!

This was my second visit to The Curlew in a month. Both were evening meals. The menu choices are extensive, with a la carte, and set menus available. It really was a case of liking everything on the menus, and finding it difficult to decide...More

Description
The Curlew has had a varied and interesting history. The building was constructed in the 1800's and served as a farm mostly producing root vegetables. After gaining its license, the building became Mulligan's fish restaurant, then a themed pub and was more recently called The Manor before settling on being named after the wading bird - the Curlew.
