Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a beautiful gem of a restaurant this is. From stepping inside you are overcome by the beauty of this classic French Cuisine restaurant. Beautiful decor and spotlessly clean. Our host was very welcoming from us stepping in, to leaving the restaurant. Food was exquisite...and my husband said, his fish soup was the best he has ever tasted, high praise from him. Typical French cuisine at its very finest. Choice of wines was fantastic. We went with our neighbours who have been several times before and we would now highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.More

This beautifully decorated and charming restaurant was recommended to us and exceeded all expectations! The owners have run it for 30+ years and were so helpful for us English speakers. The service was incredible as well with excellent wine recommendations. We had the steak with...bone marrow which was delicious as well as the salmon. It was a beautiful atmosphere and a lovely welcome to Calais. You must order the chocolate fondant for dessert!More

I have never written a review before but was so disappointed with my tasteless food which was really not worth eating. Not fresh, not seasoned, not good.

As ever, Caroline is a superb hostess, spotting you before you finish parking opposite, and welcoming us back like old friends. She manages the whole restaurant out front on her own superbly, with excellent cuisine and great wine selection. On our way home, we always...try to stop for a gastronomic lunch, even though the day before was a Michelin 2* event. Her welcome and the overall ambiance take a lot of beating. Beautiful person, beautiful food, beautiful decor - what more could one ask for a last lunch in France?More

We had a wonderful lunch here. The restaurant is located in the centre of Calais with easy parking. Inside the decor is of a classical style, very cosy and welcoming. The owner was very friendly and greeted each guest individually. The food was amazing with...a good choice of set menus as well as a la carte. Would definitely recommend.More

We have been visiting this little gem of a French restaurant periodically over many years, deliberately planning an overnight stay in Calais to go there. Plenty of restaurants nearer the sea serve the usual fare of moules and frites but if you want something different...take a walk and hunt out this restaurant. The food is more akin to fine dining with excellent flavours and beautifully presented. A good wine list and a full range of aperitifs, whiskies and brandies will satisfy all tastes. It hasn’t changed a lot over the years because it doesn’t need to. Often full of french people says it all.More

This was a superb place for a special meal. The decor was traditional and elegant. La Madame who was front of house was excellent and spoke good English. Our waiter was perfect, resplendent in silk bow tie with a pristine napkin over his shoulder, and...our food didn’t disappoint. Great choice, beautifully presented and delicious. Had some spare time before catching the Eurotunnel so stopped here for something to eat. The host was super accommodating given that it was very near to closing time for the lunch sitting. We spent the previous 2 weeks close to St Emilion and La...Buissonniere was the best meal of the whole holiday.More

We have been going to La Buissonniere for years and it never disappoints. The owners and staff are so welcoming, the service is perfect, the good is consistently gorgeous, the decor is fun and they have a really decent wine list. It is one of...our favourite restaurants and when there are off season return offers on the ferry, we have driven all the way from London and back just to have lunch there.More

I came here last Saturday evening with my parents for the first time and, despite my parents telling me how special it was, I was astounded at the beauty of this restaurant and its food. The food was so traditional and tasty, but with clever...twists that emphasised the flavours. The highlight for me was the starter, a duck pate dish that was shaped to be like an opera cake paired with little bits of pineapple. A combination of flavours made in heaven - genius! It looked wonderful and tasted even better. This restaurant is an absolute must, a truly French experience with delightful owners who made all nationalities feel welcome. What a superb family-run business. Can't wait to be back!More

An excellent & charming restaurant! My wife and I dined here and were delighted by the quality & presentation of the food. The menus were reasonably priced and the food was fresh, beautifully presented and delicious. We also enjoyed the apéritifs and some excellent wine...- all for a very reasonably price. The service was impeccable - courteous & perfectly timed. Highly recommended.More
