Looking for a warm place, full of nice people in Saintes, go to La Musardière. Just for a wee coffee (Gaby the owner is a true talented roaster) or for lunch /dinner, I have found my place in the coffee shop and restaurant. You can even find a book to read while enjoying your expresso!

We had a very enjoyable lunch yesterday, the marinated logo was magnificent and so very tasty, I could have eaten it twice! My other half had a very acceptable Caesar Salad and we both enjoyed our puddings. One of their special puds was fresh grilled pineapple slices, completely delicious! Just a couple of beers, one alcohol free completed our very... More

Just had lunch in this restaurant/coffee shop in the beautiful courtyard. Location is fabulous in a historical courtyard. Food was good without being brilliant but service was appallingly bad: no greetings when we arrived, waiter too his break just after we asked for the bill and brought it to us 10 minutes later after smoking his cigarette in sight of... La Cochonne (which is a plate of Iberian charcuterie) is really excellent as a starter. The Tournedos is also very good. Sadly the Caesar salad that inhale was rather average. The chicken had been cooked a long time ahead and was like shoe leather. The squid was excellent. The melon en fete also good. So... Do eat here but forget... More

After failing to find much on offer in way of French restaurants in centre of Saintes we had dinner in their courtyard. Service efficient and unfussy. Enjoyed prawn and bean tapas but mains were excellent particularly the squid and the huge steak. Very good local picher of red to wash down. Prices very fair. They have life music some nights... Friendly staf, nice location and delicious food. From the outside you wouldn't guess what this establishment hides. Cosy place to enjoy the pleasures of food and drink for a reasonable price!

Last year in July we had dinner here and found it a dissapointing experience. Since we were bound to attend concerts during the Festival of Saintes there were not many restaurants able to meet our time scheduling, hence we tried this place again. Next year this will not happen again. One tip avoid the carpaccio of beef. Very icy and... More

Very nice find. Lovely setting in open courtyard at the rear/side of the building. Service was very friendly and the food was very good. Even better, they serve food all afternoon, when many other places are shut! Highly recommended.
