Smithy's only serves the best quality food in our Tex Mex and Grill restaurant. Humongous homemade burgers, stacked tall with toppings, nachos piled high with melted cheese, guacamole, homemade salsa, sour cream and jalapenos. Tender fillet steaks, sticky BBQ ribs and crispy southern fried chicken wings. We also offer a wide variety of vegetarian and gluten-free options as well as a menu for the kids.....

WOW!! Where to start guys...food was amazing we tried nearer enough everything on the menu between our ski group from the light bites/snacks to burgers and ribs it was all delicious!! The grazing platter was a massive hit and the homemade buffalo sauce with the chicken wings EVEN BIGGER hit all round, one word DELICIOUS! It's a must try. Banging apres with live music, everyone joined in with dancing on the tables/benches and just generally good fun all round. Evening just as lively after the dinner period with live music, beer pong & of course three man! You haven't been to Smithy's untill trying there house 'joss' shot and a jug of cocktail (yes I mean a jug each 😉) Awesome friendly & efficient staff, the owner's should be proud of themselves and there team!! Highly recommend a visit if ever in the resort, we will defiantley be back next winter that's for sure.

Great place to eat and drink

We heard about smithys tavern through a friend and wasn’t disappointed friendly staff and great atmosphere. The food and drink was very reasonably priced. The thing that set it apart for me was that being on a plant based diet they actually had vegan and vegetarian opinions on the menu which for France is quite rare. Also the food was really nice and plenty of it. Would certainly recommend to anyone.

One of the best spots in Alpe d’Huez

If you’re after excellent food and a real party, smithys is the place to go. I spent most of the season in adh and ate in smithys more times than I could count. My personal favourites were the loco pollo chicken burger and the pulled pork burger but having tried most of the menu I can say the quality was matched across the board. The staff in there are also superb and nothing is to much for them, there are always extra pickles as well. After you finish your meal hang around and it won’t be long until the party takes off, it’s amazing how it changes from a relaxed restaurant.to a thumping party as soon as everyone has finished eating. Some of the best nights of the season were in smithys with live bands and an amazing resident DJ. I can’t recommend this place enough

Bring back the old Smithy’s……

We have been coming to ADH for many years, and Smithy’s has always been our favourite please to eat and drink - First night tradition on every trip- well that was until now. We have been to ADH twice already this season and are back again now. We won’t be visiting Smithys this time. We went first in Feb and the food had dived massively from our last trip in 2019 and before, staff are clueless of the menu and completely blanking of you if you need more drinks or anything and all for a top price. We gave it a second chance in March and same again, the standard of the food has just dived. It’s ok, but nothing special and expensive. And again clueless staff, zero atmosphere and very poor service. You’ve lost us as a group, and this time there are 21…..check my previous review to see the change. Bring back the old Smithys………

Hi Oli and Sarah, apologise it has taken so long to reply to your review. It saddens me that your last two visits hasn’t been up to the same standard as you have previously experienced when visiting SMITHYS. Especially since you have been coming to our venue for years. We do hope you will still be coming to alpe d huez in the future and that you will give us the chance to change your mind and show you that we are still the same good SMITHYS we have always been.

Gone downhill, just poor

Third visit here in last four years. Had to wait for an hour for food when it wasn’t busy (early evening). Pulled pork burger sent back twice as cold and the cold and burnt. Pulled pork fajita was the same as the burger but burnt to the bottom of a cast iron skillet. Complained but staff did not offer one apology. Had to step over comatose student to get to toilet and again outside when leaving (only 7pm) as well as negotiate a few piles of vomit just outside. Seems to now be aimed at young market. Shame as food has gone downhill massively.

Hi Craig, I apologise it has taken so long to reply to your review. We are sad your last visit wasn’t as great as it has been in the past. I am sorry to hear that your pulled pork burger wasn’t warm and am surprised that the mistake wasn’t rectified when sent back. I do hope that you will give us the chance to change your mind on your next holiday as we only aime to give people a good experience and make good holiday memories. The last few weeks of April 2022 we did have a large amount of students in town who also has to be able to come visit our venue when they are on holiday. Regrettably some get a little too drunk before visiting our venue and we often end up having to help them get in touch with their resort responsables to take them home. That is what you are describing here. We are usually very quick at cleaning up should some of our guests miss the target but appreciate a heads up so we can ensure that all facilities are always up to standards. Poor service, wrong orders and rude manageress

First visit to Alpe d'huez, we are a group of 4 and saw some good reviews for Smithys and were really looking forward to the live band, but our experience was dreadful! We booked in advance and ordered drinks and 4 meals however one of the meals delivered was not what was ordered. This was taken away and replaced by another meal but the wrong meal was delivered for a second time!! By this time 3 of us had finished eating so we complained about the poor dining experience and advised the waitress we no longer wanted the 4th meal and to bring the bill. The waitress told us she had amended the the bill to discount the 4th meal due due to the problem with service. We pointed out that it wasn't a discount as we had not been given the right food so they hadn't actually supplied what was ordered! The waitress consulted the manageress (several times) and she came back to say the manageress had agreed to discount one drink and one mixer. We asked to speak to the manageress and she had a terrible attitude towards us from the outset. She was patronising, rude and actually insisted we had chosen to not eat the (2x wrong) meal provided. She lacked basic customer service skills, speaking to us in an off hand manner, slapping the table with her hands. A very disappointing service and poor treatment.

Good day Ladies, First off amazing that you took your time to research and found that SMITHYS was your choice for dinner. Secondly, we are very sorry that you didn’t get the full SMITHYS experience that we so pride ourselves in. The week you were here we had moved band night to Thursday due to an event with the danish students on the Tuesday. That could have been communicated better. Sorry. Sometimes mistakes happen in the kitchen and we like to make sure that the mistakes are fixed as soon as possible. However a second mistake happening on your table is regrettable and not up to standards. I am terribly sorry you weren’t offered a satisfactory compensation for your experience and invite you you contact me privately to rectify the situation and make sure you have a great experience for your next visit. Really disappointing evening

We’ve been to Smithy’s in the past & have had an excellent meal but sadly this time wasn’t the same. The booking was to celebrate a birthday & after ordering, half of our food turned up, one burger was cold & these meals were eaten before the rest of our order turned up. We were asked for our Covid passes after we’d sat down but noticed that no-one else was asked that came in after. Masks were not worn by customers & only some staff had them on! Such a disappointment based on our previous visits.

Great experience, fabulous food and friendly staff

Had a lovely evening with family and friends. The food was of very high standard and everyone very pleased with all the choices. We loved wings and sharing platters around the table top fire pits on the terrace with attentive staff who recommended great wine. The mains ranged from burgers and fajitas through salads, ribs, steak and Thai curry ..... something to suit everyone . Not to be missed if you are in Les Deux Alpes

Spent the weekend on Alp D'huez riding the Etape du tour. Every night we went to Smithy's where we were greeted with a smile, good food and a great atmosphere. Vegan, Veggie and meat eater alike non of our group went hungry and the staff could not do enough to help and make you feel at home, great crack too! There was also a young guy singing and playing the guitar who was exceptional! Well recommended and I'll definitely return. THANK YOU!

Went a number of times during our stay in Alpe d'Huez this winter. Personal favourite has to be Apres Tuesday with the live band! Food was always amazing, loved the chilli-cheese bites, burgers, mix-up platter and the burrito. Staff were all super friendly and fun, make sure you try some Joss!

Best place to eat as a Vegan in alpe d'huez

If you're looking for a great Tex-Mex restaurant with a good selection of beers, drinks, and delicious food, Smithy's Tavern is definitely worth checking out. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a cozy interior that's perfect for a casual meal with friends. Speaking of the food, Smithy's Tavern truly excels in this area. The Tex-Mex cuisine is authentic and flavorful, with a wide range of dishes to choose from. And if you're vegan, you'll be happy to know that there are plenty of options for you as well. But perhaps the best thing about Smithy's Tavern is the friendly and attentive service. The servers are knowledgeable about the menu and the drinks, and are always happy to make recommendations or answer any questions you might have. They truly go out of their way to make you feel welcome and ensure that you have a great dining experience.

Great place for food, beers, sport and I’d imagine apres!

What a place! We visited for the semi final and as a Live SPORT venue it was brilliant. Without doubt the Best burgers In town if not the best I’ve had ever. Served with fries and a smile. My sister is a Veggie and she said they had different and goo d quality Amazing veggie options, even with JACKFRUIT! With young kids it was impressive that they Even had a GAMES area for the kids. Made the semi even more fun! We can only imagine how great this place is during winter. We will be back.

An asset to the town

We had heard of this place in the grapevine back in the UK. For me as the old man of the 2 person party this has normally meant cheap drinks, food as an afterthought and too loud to talk; well, not here. The staff were welcoming and attentive, courteous and smiling. The food on 2 nights was really good and good value in mountain terms. The team worked together under the calm leadership of the floor manager and helped each other out to make sure customers were looked after. The bar staff were friendly while being fast and efficient. Overall definitely worth reserving or taking the chance; as a 2 we were fitted in, just, even in UK half term week.

Delicious food. Great staff. Brilliant party! The homemade jalepeños poppers are amazing! I would also recommend the loaded sweet potato fries with chicken, bacon and beef with a pint of Meantime London Pale Ale. A really good bar. Would return.

Booked out for private parties most of the time. When trying to book didn’t receive a response. Waitress/manager very rude kept telling us the kitchen couldn’t accommodate anymore. Not worth walking all the way for! Rude rude staff, wouldn’t bother. Also treacherous water leaking out the roof on entry.

Good day, We are sorry to hear you weren’t able to come for dinner with us this week. Week 5 is one of the biggest weeks of the season and with a large amount of students in town we have had to close dinner service early to accommodate students in town so they don’t disturb the peace outside after 22:00. We always recommend making a reservation. Without a response to your email or Instagram messages we cannot guarantee a table. We always try and accept as may walk ins as possible but unfortunately this also means first come first serve. We take a lot of pride in our hiring process and would like to almost guarantee that our staff will always have a good chat and give you the best service provided they have the time. Regarding the water upon entry. That is not coming from our property but we are in contact with the owners about the fix. Unfortunately we are a bit unlucky that the melting water evacuates into our entry stairs. We do hope that you have had a good holiday and that you will give us the opportunity to host the dinner that you walked for several times without luck. Kindly SMITHYS.
