Of course we had the steak which as always was scrumptious portion size and appearance where outstanding. Staff and landlord very helpful and welcoming, the Gin selection is very impressive, we are looking at taking my parents there for my mums 75th birthday, my partner and I have never been disappointed with the Royal Oak

A nice country pub on Dartmoor, with very good real ale and nice food. I booked on the hope that they had a table for my son and I on a busy weekend. We turned up to a warm welcome, I had a nice pint of Jail Ale. the food was plentiful and very tasty.

Extremely friendly welcome, the basic menu though could do with refreshing,it is a bit boring. The menus themselves are in some very old well worn folders that need changing.Napkins?forks could be offered with the desserts.lack of foresight on service abit haphazard ,definitely needed. This is just basic stuff but important. Do pop in .

Had a birthday meal for my mother's 90th here in early December and was made to feel very welcome by the very friendly staff. The meal was absolutely fantastic and reflected well why they have won so many awards. Lovely warm and cosy little country pub that is well worth seeking out.

My husband's employer booked a meal for a party of seven people in the week of 12th December. The table was beautifully presented and the food was out of this world. I had fish pie while my husband had the roast. You would never find nicer food in the best of restaurants though this is the local village pub. All... More

This is a lovely olde English Pub, and the minute you walk through the door, the atmosphere meets you. The staff are helpful, and the service is very good. The meals are good portions, and there is plenty of choice. Sunday roasts are particulary good.

We decided on a whim to visit on Friday as they had just posted on Facebook fish n chips for £6.95. So decided to go over. We didn't realise that the offer was in the bar area only so we did confuse the member of bar staff for a while. We ordered drinks and meal then found a seat in... More

We had steaks done exactly as requested with great chips and a tasty and colourful salad. Warm and friendly with a very interesting choice of draught local beers and ciders/Perry. Prices good value for money, though not cheap- the food was worth it. Thanks.

The is a menu and daily specials board. Both are varied and accommodate every palette. Food arrived promptly, was exactly as described on the... More

The Royal Oak Inn is a free house owned by Burrator Parish Council. It is situated within the Dartmoor National Park, in an idyllic location next to the village green in Meavy. The pub is a former 15th-century church house inn. It takes its name from the oak tree on the village green which is reputedly some 800 years old. This is one of the few remaining traditional pubs, with a flagstone floor, old beams and a large open fireplace. Some of the seats are pews from the adjacent church. And the wood fire provides a warm welcome on those cold winter evenings. If character is what you want from your visit then you could find no better place!
