Very cool old building, friendly service and great beer. Try their Schwarz bier. It is easily the best I have ever had in that style. Tastes like a perfectly poured Guinness but better! Nice creamy head with a beautiful malt body.

We arrived in Bamberg in the evening looking for somewhere to eat and found this place. Nice atmosphere, friendly and food filling and tasty. Sausages, traditional Schäufele (pork shoulder with crackling) and beef were consumed, plus lovely beer. Sadly we were only there for two nights but it was much enjoyed.

Came to this brewery to try the famed local smoked beer. The beer is great and the beer garden by the river on a sunny day is wonderful! I did not have food or sit inside, so can't comment on the food or interior of the place.

Wow never had smoked beer before and perfect for winter! The dark beer is the richer of the two but you can't drink as much!

A small selection of beer brewed at the location. Warm recommendation for the "Kellerbier"-style brew. However the Kitchen closes early.

Inattentive staff and arrogance when we wanted to order more beer. You can get the type of food anywhere else in Bamberg, so not worth the risk of getting pissed off. We sat for two hours, the waiter came only one time to take orders. The view over the river is spectacular though..

Slightly away from the bustle of the town centre, Bamberg's oldest brewery serves excellent beer and food (the Schwaerzli especially recommended). A large terrace overlooks the water and has views of the Rathaus. It's well away from the passing traffic and beer-drinking hordes so noise is kept to a minimum, just locals chatting amiably. Service is great, highly efficient and... More

Stopped in midday for a beer at Bamberg's oldest brewery. The place was fairly quiet with only a few other patrons. The server was alone but friendly & efficient. The brewery & restaurant is large but spread amongst different rooms & an outdoor garden area. They offer 7 different types of beer. The dark beer was very tasty.
