A group of us went here for our weekly Thursday Stammtisch, tho on Wednesday due to the next day being a holiday. There were 5 of us, and at first, upon arrival and half way thru our meals, we could carry on a normal conversation, but then about 7pm we started seeing the tables filling up and the noise level... We walked 20min from our hotel next to the hauptbahnhof to get here. We only had a beer or two but typical decor on the inside. Has a nice beer garden I can imagine would be nice in the summer. Really nice unfiltered beer, a u. Wouldn't hesitate to return.

Went with a some friends and had a great time. You can tell it is going to be a great experience went you notice people just standing outside drinking the beer. You can either sit down for a meal or just order beers to drink. We opted to sit and enjoy some food and with reservations, we were quickly seated.... More

We did not enjoy the restaurant. But the bier was one the great biers of Bamberg. We sat in a shaded garten on a sunny day. To order a refill I stepped to the tap room and said "A U" (ah ou) That got me one of their unique onsite brewed brews. They also had fresh pretzels. Check out the... More

A short walk from our hotel was this old Bavarian beer tavern. This 450 year old restaurant had exposed beams and authentic antique decor. The food was excellent and well priced! I had a schnitzel in pepper sauce that I wish I had had bread to get every last drop. The service was great and I even sat next to... More

The pork knuckle and the pork shoulder are to die for. Very authentic place, good atmosphere, great meals and beers as well. Popular amongst the locals. Make a booking beforehand unless you just want to drink

This lively brewery pub is across the river from the Altstadt. Even on a Tuesday night it was hard to find a table - it was full of locals. They've been brewing beer since the 17th century and the inside of the pub was decorated accordingly - wooden wall panels and furniture, antique fittings and fixtures. The beer was excellent,... Across the road from Brauerei Keesmann on Wunderburg, in a nice area across the river from Altstadt. Probably my favourite beer and with lovely food, both venues are good to get lost for a long afternoon!

Other end of Bamberg from where we were staying, but 5 of us decided to take the wander over the river to this place after chatting to locals around the old town. We weren't disappointed. Friendly staff, good choice of beer and a buzzing atmosphere, well worth a visit if you are having a wander around the town.

Picturesque atmosphere that gives you the impression you just stepped into a Brothers Grimm fairy-tale; also, believe you me, it cannot get more Bavarian traditional as this. Also, great Service and good Location. Not a big fan of Beer, but the Dark One (Bock-Bier) is not too shabby. Just make sure you do NOT arrive (like silly me) between 2... More

Tradition and craftsmanship – for us, these are not just selling points, and most definitely not myth. We are a family owned and operated business, run with conviction and passion for over four generations. We’ve been doing it simply for the sheer pleasure and enjoyment of our work. And because we have a very specific idea of what an outstanding beer must have: Character.

We leave the cheap beer to the mass production industry. We don’t get bent out of shape over producing a few more hectoliters. On the contrary, we are a proud, yet not sooo small, private brewery in Upper Franconia. For centuries we have been calling Bamberg’s Wunderburg our home. Family-owned and firmly rooted in the region since 1895. Then, as now, committed to the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516. We enjoy our success, but always remain fully aware of our responsibility.

brauereiWe work with confidence in our age-old craft, and can therefore keep a clear head for the present. We are inquisitive and move forward with new ideas for the future. Because, when it’s all said and done, pairing the art of our brewing tradition with the sophistication modern technology (along with the occasional surprise) you can truly taste the difference in each of our nine Mahr’s beers.
