Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

In one word remarkable! Environment, ambiance, quality of service, food, just about everything was superbly thought out including the bedrooms!! Whoever came up with this concept should be very proud

My business partner and I had lunch (6 course, spent about 350€) at the restaurant. It was not heated (too cold!), but the food tasted decent and we enjoyed spending time from about 12-15:30 together. We gave a good tip and even thanked the kitchen...personally. In the evening I started feeling bad though and over the weekend and even until mid of the following week I got stomach cramps, diarrhea, etc. I missed the weekend with my family almost completely. Only on Monday I learned my business partner had the same symptoms (in the end even suffering longer until the end of the following week). As we had Oysters at the restaurant, we immediately suspected them and told the management of the restaurant per email. What now followed was really embarrassing. First of all the email was not answered for 2 days, only after I asked again whether that topic was at any importance to them. Then we got an answer by the owner saying they are sorry we fell sick but it is completely out of any possibility (imagine that!) they had anything to do with it. They offered us a free glass of champagne for the next time anyway (insulting). Another, very polite email from my business partner, ("we expect you to empathize, listen, try to understand what happened") resulted in more or less the phrase: "We served 200 oysters that week. No one fell sick." --> So it's your fault. Just unimaginable for a restaurant at that price level... we will never go there again and tell everyone we can about our experience. Disclaimer: We do NOT say that we got food poisoned at a 100% guaranty at Broederenklooster. We just saw that as very likely because we just spent these few hours together and developed just hours after our lunch similar symptoms (not even considering the food to be bad, just learned 2 days later we both fell so sick at the same time). And we were shocked how the Broederenklooster treats customers like us with blanket 'no way, not interested, next time a champagne' - one of the worst restaurant experiences ever.More

We enjoyed a coffee here and wanted to have something small with it. We ordered the Cafe Gourmand and got some delicious treats! The taste wasn't the only thing that was good, it also looked splendid!

Can’t fault the food. We had a five course tasting/surprise menu and all dishes (plus amuses to start with) were imaginative with the pike with smoked eel and sauerkraut being the star of the evening. We had some wines by the glass and all were...very pleasant. We subtracted a star for the fact that 1) you cannot get tap water. Tap water is purified and sold for 6 euros a bottle which is exorbitant. We had a situation before where we were charged for tap water, but the monies went to a charity, which was fine with us. 2) we were not allowed to keep the bottle of water on the table. This meant we had no sight of what we drank and this meant that at the end of the evening we found out we were actually charged for 2 bottles of water (no idea who this was calculated as bottles were shared between tables). 3) despite us deciding to go for a 5 course surprise menu, there was a lot of upselling. This felt as if the choice to have five courses was not respected. Oysters to be added as a starter, an extra fish course (or replace an existing course for a substantial supplement), caviar to be added to a course, cheese platter. Had we chosen all, the costs would have easily doubled. We actually felt sorry for the staff who had to do this (and for people who find it difficult to resist and say no). Although we had a very pleasant evening and enjoyed the meal and wine, the upselling did not help us enjoying our meal.More

What a great dining experience: ambiance, food, wines, service - it all was at top level. We have eaten at Michelin star restaurants that fade in comparison with this restaurant. Being open less than a year, the ambition is matched by execution. Well done! Keep...up the good work!More
