When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We came for lunch and were served by William Defoe! A family run restaurant in one of the original 10 prettiest French Beaux Villages, definitely worth a visit. I had the mushroom starter and fish, and my friends had the entrecôte all of which were...delicious. We had crumble and ice cream for desert which was fab!More

Superb meal in a beautiful setting. We hope to return soon. Recommended here from earlier reviews and were very impressed by the quality of the food and service. Both enjoyed the trout with almonds and the starters were delicious.

Beautiful location in an ancient village, terrace along the river L’Auvézère. Very high quality food with excellent service. We visited this restaurant with 6 people during the Covid-19 crisis but sitting outside it all felt normal as before. Highly recommended!

My husband and I holidayed in the Dordogne this year and this was our best meal out of the holiday. We had visited Segur le Chateau earlier in the holiday and found this little restaurant but only had time for a drink but the food...and atmosphere attracted us to revisit for a meal before coming home. Our first visit was on a Sunday at which time this small intimate restaurant was very busy and we had eaten earlier in the day so were not hungry. Our second visit was at lunchtime on a Thursday it was a lot quieter but still popular with French and foreign tourists alike. We do not speak French and the owner speaks very little English but we all managed to muddle through. We both had the filet de boeuf limousin facon Rossini with a bottle of Segur le Chateau red wine, both were delicious and all for a reasonable 81 euros, rounded down to 80 Euros by the owner, we did have the most expensive dishes and wine on the menu, but it was our holiday. The meals came with sauteed potatoes and mixed vegetable accompaniment. There is indoor seating and a raised open terrace overlooking the river running through the village, we ate on the terrace. We did not sample any other dishes as our main was sufficient for the time of day.More

Even though the terrace was full, the staff made some extra room for us. We had the lunch menu of the day for 16€: a savoury hors d'oeuvre of egg and salmon, followed by a great piece of meat (onglet de veau) with grilled vegetables...and baked potatoes. And a perfect café after. All we could wish for.More

Fabulous meals using the very best of impressive local produce, perfectly cooked and served in as beautiful a setting as you could ever envisage. The wines were well chosen to complement the menu and the prices were very reasonable.. The family are friendly and helpful...- as is the norm in Segur le Chateaux. So good we went three evenings out of seven and two of us had the trout twice!More

We visited this beautiful village last year but sadly this restaurant was fully booked. We wanted to come back and today we did. We were shown to a lovely table on the terrace overlooking the river and seated amongst diners both English and French. The...menu at €20 for three courses sounded divine and extremely reasonable. To start, for both of us, Camembert Pané and to follow Onglet de Veau and Epaule d'agneau, both served with delicious roasted vegetables and chipped rosemary potatoes. To finish, fromage blanc with a red fruit coulis. All washed down with a delicious crisp Bergerac rosé. Add to this a lovely vista and impeccable but friendly service. This restaurant, to me, epitomises everything we are looking for in a French restaurant. Proper French cooking, delicious and authentic food and superb service. The location was an absolute plus as was the toilet. I wish I'd taken my camera to capture the tiny, perfect facility (every mod con) on the banks of the river. One of the most charming I've ever seen! Highly recommend and we'll be back. Many thanks for a wonderful experience.More

Lovely restaurant located in un des plus beaux villages de France. Comfortable, pleasant interior and a lovely terrace which overlooks the Auvezere. Very good menu with plenty of choice. Attentive, quick service from our waiter whose English was so much better than my poor French,...We had escalope de veau and truite armandes. Both were cooked perfectly and came with hot, in-season vegetables. A point off for the potatoes which were charred on one side. But ... this restaurant is only open June, July, August and September. Closed for the rest of the year. A pity, During July and August I would phone ahead for a reservation if you are planning a detour to this beautiful village. Another but ... the restaurant is cash only; no CB, Visa or Mastercard. If the bill had been any bigger I would have been in trouble because there is no cash machine in the village.More

This is quite a basic place in the sense that the surroundings are quite humble, but the food is top-class - and that's what matters. A group of 10 of us ordered a variety of dishes, and all turned out be excellent. As someone who...is very partial to sweetbreads, I particularly recommend the ris de veau, but really you can't go wrong here; and all at sensible prices. The only thing preventing me from awarding 5 stars is the surfeit of wasps, which significantly impacted our enjoyment of the meal - one of our party got stung, but there were so many wasps that it was a miracle we did not all end up in hospital.More

I think you could get into the restaurant but the toilet is in 'a little house at the bottom of the garden'. The owner is very helpful, so you could phone and ask for more info.
