Recently refurbished the arms is a super restaurant and pub. The menu is quite eclectic and the wines good. We had the artisanal breads with olive oil and balsamic. Superb We then had beef bourgeon with new potatoes and curly kale. Fantastic We finished with a berry eaton mess which was served as a cylinder and was knockout. We will... More

About 8 of us met at the Cockhaven Arms for Sunday lunch, it was all a bit last minute, but all staff were very accommodating and made sure we had enough space for everybody, including high chairs for the little ones. The roast was very tasty and the dessert board very enticing. I'll definitely be back to try some more!

so, I should have booked somewhere earlier, but you know . . . life gets in the way. Anyhoooo, phoned here Saturday, not expecting a table for 8 really. Staff were great - full but offered a table mid afternoon. They were friendly and obliging when we arrived. Very short wait for previous table users to vacate. Food was tasty,... More

A very acceptable roast meal with a choice of three meats which were all cooked and presented nicely ,pork beef or lamb .Vegetables were aplenty and when we requested more roast potatoes it was not a problem and a whole dish was brought out .The service and presentation from the start to finish was very good indeed .They do lack... Visited for a meal having stayed previously under various owners. Had not been for a number of years as the previous manager had a bad reputation and new managers are now in place. Food was good and menu offers a reasonable choice of good wholesome food. The bar/restaurant area has been recently changed and is now a much better area... More

We both went for Sunday roast. It was nice but the the veg portion could have been bigger. (We are not huge btw!) Very friendly staff and excellent service. To be better the lamb could have been cooked less and the serving dishes/plates warmed. The wine and the ale were great and log fire very welcoming. We will visit again.

Great atmosphere, great food and a great result for Hospiscare's charity Big Breakfast. Well done to Nathaniel and every one of his team. Despite being far busier than expected, you did a super job.

A delicious Sunday lunch offering good value; the meat was tender and good quality, the vegetables were cooked well - still had texture - and a good choice (kale, broccoli and carrot), great homemade yorkshire puddings and tasty gravy. Our only observation was that the roast potatoes were too large - not enough crunch to fluff ratio! I had the... More

Our first visit since change of ownership and redesigning. The first impression was not promising, tables in the passageway as one entered but a more obvious bar. We ate in the restaurant, one of only two couples and despite several warnings from previous customers, Apart from being a little expensive for pub fare, the food was good and enjoyable

Now re-opened following extensive renovations. We have extended and developed a lovely bar and restaurant with open log fires and an intimate and cosy atmosphere which is ideal for informal eating and drinking. The new décor, lighting and the mixture of solid oak flooring, stone slabs and carpeted areas gives a friendly homely feel. The ever popular conservatory has been refurbished and is now more integrated with the bar area. We have also created 'The Wardroom' which offers a more intimate dining room for private parties and for our guests. Upstairs, the elegant landing has been sympathetically redecorated, whilst all the rooms have been extensively refurbished, some of the bedrooms have also been re-configured to create individually styled but contemporary suites, family rooms and double rooms. The changes do not stop with the building. A new Spring Menu features freshly prepared dishes, from pub favourites through to new creations reflecting contemporary English cuisine. As before, there is an extensive vegetarian selection and of course a specials board which changes daily. To go with this is a new Wine List (with over a dozen available by the glass), created by Tanners Independent Wine Merchants, local ales from Otter Brewery, as well as a leading range of other draught lagers and cider. Outside, there is a large beer garden with lovely views of the estuary, along with plenty of car parking.
