Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My wife and I visited The Woolpack 15-3-2024 for an evening meal and a drink. Our host Nick was very friendly and was very interactive with all of his customers. The food was lovely and the portions were very generous. I would definitely recommend a...visit to this pub/restaurant if you are in Dorset and in the area.More

We are new to the area and trying out new places to eat and have a drink. The Woolpack was highly recommended to us. So we thought we would try it out! It’s has a lovely location in the village of Sopley by a small...river. We went there for a mid week lunch in March and very much enjoyed our experience. Nick, the manager, was friendly and found us a table by the window in a fairly small, quaint room with a log burning fire. The food was very good - my fish and chips was plentiful: the fish was soft and flakey cod with a yummy crunchy batter, nice chips too.😃 All at a reasonable price. 😃😃 There was also a very good mid week offer on selected meals - 2 courses for £12. Might try that next time! We shall definitely be back! See photos.More

Celebrated mother's day with a table of 8. We all had something different from burgers, roasts, veggie pasta, veggie lasagne. All excellent and well prepared. Chocolate brownie was amazing for desert. Staff are friendly, we were served by Lucy, who is lovely, attentive, nothings too...much trouble, despite it being a busy mothering Sunday. Definitely return for future celebrations. Would like to try more from their delicious menu. Thanks to you all. 😊More

We went as a group of 30+ and the attention to detail was amazing. We ordered before: some had two courses, some had three. Each course was substantial and was served to us together and HOT - an amazing achievement when serving such a large...group. We have been as a couple before and will do so again. The food is delicious and Hick and his team make you feel so welcome.More

We had not been here since the new owners took over so weren't sure what to expect. A very smart and cheerful manager greeted us, the pub decor is really nice and it is still as cosy as ever. As it was a sunday we...chose to go all out and have the Big Daddy 3 meat roasts which were so big but also top quality food, We have large appetites but both had to leave some mains in order to tackle a dessert, again not disappointed with quality or quantity. It is easy to be put off by the prices when you view the menu but taking into account the quality and size of the meals we felt it was worth every penny and will definitely be going back to try the steak pie which looked amazing!More

Booked for a combined anniversary/birthday celebration. Arrived on a cold night, but were warmly greeted by the owner, and show to our table not far from the open fireplace. We ordered our drinks, and after they had come (quite quickly) we ordered food. Chris started...with the Pean and Ham homemade soup - a bit bowl, and a nicely warm section of baguette. He couldn't eat all of it, as he wanted to leave room for his mains. I had the Nachos with melted cheese, salsa, sour cream and bacon bits. If I had not have very hungry, it would have done for a mains! Both reall good, hot and filling. For mains, Chris had a Cheesburger and fries, whilst I had the Sirloin special (blue), with peppercorn sauce. I can honestly say that it was one of the best steaks I have had - it was definately blue, but was tender, melting in the mouth, and was really tasty. The chips were thin chips, but perfectly cooked, with a bit of seasoning. Chris's burger was juicy, and properly cooked, and his chips were as good as mine. The only complaint? that he had was that he could have done without the sliced gherkins, but that was trivial. We didn't have room for puds, but the selection seemed quite good. One thing was that they were very hot on allergies - making sure that they were known and worked with. All in all, and excellent night and meal, and we will be going back when the sister in law comes down for her birthday! As a side note - the door into the main pub opens inward, over a step. Although there are signs indicating this, they are not noticeable enough for someone who has vision problems, especially when they use a stick to get about.More

Superb evening, friendly staff, chef let us have the Christmas menu even though we hadn't pre-ordered ( Brilliant, thanks) , excellent value for money and considering the problems of flooding they had experienced recently there was no adverse effect on our evening. Highly recommended.

My friends and I have been before and were impressed with the food, however today that was not the case. On the specials board it said sea bass, samphire and new potatoes only there were none only roast potatoes. From the main menu there was...hake with provincial veg and confit potatoes, when it was brought to the table it was exactly the same as the sea bass dish. When I asked the waitress where the vegetables were she said they had problems in the kitchen but did go get some vegetables for us. I found it strange why these veg just couldn’t have been put on the plate in the first place instead of the samphire. I think if you don’t have new potatoes don’t say you do, or say the dish comes with confit potatoes and then you get roast. I cook a great deal so I know the difference between them. So my friend and I were disappointed with what we had.More
