Called here for an evening meal, to say the least I won’t be returning. Ordered 3 sizzlers and one steak. The sizzlers weren’t even sizzling and the sauce was watery, not tasty at all. The steak was poor quality, chips were nice think that was...the only good thing. Asked for no peas and it came with peas. Slow service, had to ask for menus, very old decor. Beer garden looked nice. Waitress was in a hurry to take our order and recommend something that was only going to be fast in cooking rather than anything that would take time. She wasn’t very clued up on the menu. Overall just average pub food and will not be returning.More
Amazing home cooked food. We chose the gammon and the chicken and leek pie. It arrived really quickly and was freshly prepared. The beer garden was perfect for drinks in the sunshine.
As we were staying in the village and encountering a few bad choices to eat decided to take the plunge and try here Staff very pleasant and welcoming and a good choice of food on the menu, food arrived in a timely fashion and was...well cooked. The reason for the four stars is due to the fact the opening hours are quite poor and not very customer orientated, only two lunch times were available which isn't very good don't know how they are surviving , such a shame.More
I was there to visit Family, very efficient check in.Accommodation is cosy and warm. Breakfast was very filling and sets one up for the day. The bar has a good stock of beers wines and Cider. All in all we enjoyed this our second weekend. I...was born there and the memories of my childhood flood back as I walk round the village.More
Very nice pub in a pretty village, the car park needs signage to direct you to it. The meal was ok, nothing really special. We were given a small plastic glass of a mediocre Prosecco as it was Mother’s Day. The roast potatoes tasted like...they had been done in a deep fat fryer rather than an oven, the carrots were sort of mashed, nowhere near enough gravy provided, overall a bit disappointing after having seen such good reviews. Staff seemed extremely stressed.More
We chanced upon The Fleece Inn by accident after after seeing it signposted & I think we've found a winner. The Fleece Inn is a dog friendly pub (always a must), selling reasonably priced food & also a decently looking range of real ales (sadly...I was driving I couldn't sample any) I'm looking forward to returning (minus car) so I can enjoy a couple of pints.More
How many local pubs have you been in where you feel unwelcome? Plenty I would guess! NOT THIS ONE!!! The Fleece has always been a friendly and welcome place. Everyone makes the effort to be welcoming and service is always attentive from both bar and...restaurant staff. Keep up the good work - A great pub to support!!!More
Had pre-booked Sunday lunch for two in advance and it was amazing to see how many folk had done the same, very popular with larger groups. Staff coped well despite being challenged by silly men posturing about who was to be served first at the...bar! Food lovely - roast lamb and roast beef, vegetables fresh and a delight, extra gravy. All supe. The peach and raspberry crumble with custard topped off the meal beautifully. Loved sitting near the radiator on an old church pew. Truly in Yorkshire!More
After a long walk on the Wolds we were looking forward to lunch at The Fleece Inn. Website says food is served until 2.30 on a Saturday. We arrived at 2.05pm and the Inn was quite busy with people eating. Before ordering drinks we asked...if food was still being served and the girl behind the bar said she would check. After checking we were advised the kitchen had now closed. So a pint and a bag of crisps it was. A few minutes later a family of 4 arrived and to our disappointment 20 minutes later were served food, or at least two bowls of chips which most have come from the kitchen. The family appeared local, so guess if your not local you don’t get the same service.More
went for a meal, really nice, good price. Nice staff really welcoming, although it was quiet(maybe a little early for locals) or maybe because it was bonfire night , would certainly say try it. Lovely country pub/
Was with close friends and had lunch here today, just excellent. Lovely welcome, great atmosphere inside, lovely decor and great food and drink.
We visited twice once for a drink and again for a meal which was very nice. The staff were very friendly and it is a proper country pub in a lovely village. Well worth a visit
Staying at the lilydale lodge of wolds edge, we pre-booked the table, had a drink before seating at our table, lovely barman, really friendly also doubled as our waiter, he was very attentive, polite and just put us at ease. Ordered the bacon and black...pudding starter for myself and my partner had the brie but were told it changed to halloumi, not a problem as both were amazing, mains were also phenomenal burger and lasagna very fresh and homemade. The highlight was the desserts, raspberry and white choc Sundae, first time I've ever had a sundae with fresh fruit. Well worth the money and experienceMore
Very good food and exceptional range of beers (try the mild) in this recently refurbished village pub. Friendly welcome, and altogether a pleasant experience. The rooms across the rear yard look good and we’ll investigate staying there when we’re next in the area.
