Stayed overnight whilst walking The South Downs Way and found this pub to be understaffed, with tired, drab rooms and over priced food. The bedroom was poky, with an awful shower room, old carpets and thin walls. The check in on arrival was with a...miserable young man who needs a short course in customer service. The restaurant was full, but with just two members of staff, were pushed to even take orders. The poor waitress was actually sprinting between tables. Don't take bookings if you cannot deliver on service. The food was reasonable but expensive. A cooked breakfast was not part of the overnight price and cost extra.More

Stayed here for a couple of nights and the staff were extremely polite. However the walls in the bedrooms were a little thin so can here everything from the room next doors (I mean even the snoring !). Breakfast choice was good and generous, but...additional charge made for English breakfast which is a shame given the price of the rooms.More

Went for a walk in the area and then had Sunday Lunch here. Staff were very friendly and food delicious. At times service was a little slow, but not a problem as we were happily chatting.

Visited again for lunch that remained of a high standard. Landlord too has the gift too of reaching out to several customers at the same time so making for a good atmosphere. A wood burning stove is an attractive feature. Parking is easy - a...quiet village not distorted by yellow lines! Village’s proximity to Winchester prompted us to book for a 2 night stay at Ye Old George next weekend. Pub’s capacity is 5 en-suite rooms on the 1st floor,More

Met friends here as it was half way for each of us. The pub is located in a very quaint village and it has lots of character. The staff were very welcoming and the food was excellent- will definitely go back !

I visited with my son for Sunday lunch at 2pm. Sadly the service was poor and we had to get up and find a server three times for various items and needs. Once seated no staff came back for quite a while. When food was...served - no check back and the potatoes in the roast were cold. The food was nice but spoilt by the lack of care sadly. Lovely village but won’t be rushing back anytime. I would have asked to speak to someone but there were no staff to find !More

I booked a nights stay with my husband, a couple of friends and their dogs for a cosy New Years Eve and was not disappointed at all. On arrival we were welcomed and allowed to check in early before we went on a walk. The...rooms were comfortable and stylish and clean and there are even some that allow dogs to stay over. We were shown around and invited to take the dogs with us to the bar. For those that are not dog lovers the restaurant area is pet free but we were able to dine in the bar area with the dogs. We had drinks in the bar on our return and then later in the evening a wonderful meal. The pub was shutting before midnight but they suggested that we join a New years eve party at another local pub which I thought was a very kind gesture. The food was way beyond what I would expect from a pub.....high standards, great presentation and so tasty. I slept the best I have done for weeks in the very comfy bed. In the morning we were greeted with a pretty much bottomless complementary breakfast. Lots of sourdough toast, pastries, poached pears porridge with fresh berries and nuts, yogurts and lovely conserves. We left needing to have another walk to burn some of the calories off! If you are looking for a wonderful countryside location, a cosy pub stay with walks right on your doorstep, a beautiful village and surrounded by kind, thoughtful and witty people then this is the place for you. I cannot fault it.More

This was our first visit to Ye Olde George, but we had heard good things and our expectations were surpassed. It was a quintessential Christmas setting, a lovely lit up inn decorated beautifully. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table. The food ordered...was sensational and was not ‘pub food’ - there is obviously a talented chef or two at work in the kitchen as the preparation was faultless. The puddings were equally delicious. In summary, a wonderful place to visit, backed up by great food and excellent service. We will definitely book again.More
