Matt Folas is not at the Talbot in Iwerne Minster any more. When I did visit before he moved, I had a very good lunch with friends. There is really no point having this venue reviewed by Trip Advisor.

We visited this soon after Matt Folis (BBC Masterchef winner from a few years ago) took it on. He previously had an eatery in Beaminster but has recently moved to Iwerne Minster to run the former Talbot Inn owned by Hall & Woodhouse Thi was...More

Our friends had travelled 40 miles to join us for dinner which we had booked by e-mail some time ago. Arrived to find the place closed and a notice 'apologising for any inconvenience'. All it would have taken was an e-mail explaining and cancelling the...More

I would like to add my support to the comments left by the last three reviewers who rebutted the rather thoughtless swipe at the locals for the failure of The Wild Garlic. It is quite frankly ludicrous to suggest that the locals wanted this venture...More

What happened here is a good case of trying to run a marathon before you can walk. Why they didn't just open the restaurant first to get some experience, then open the hotel, then after a few years and somewhere off site open a cookery...More

I have to agree with the reviewer below - the local people I know in the Village really wanted the place to succeed, what village would not want a thriving high quality business in it? Having eaten there a few times I have to say...More

contrary to the previous review here saying that it was locals who had a campaign against Mat and the pub because we didn't like change is sadly very misplaced. No one in the village is or was desperate to have the pub closed down and...More

I am so disappointed for mat and his crew. It's obvious to me the locals took a dislike to the changes brought to their pub so I think Mat has done exactly the right thing... Closed up and moved on. You can't change small minds...More

..except me as I had to pay in advance for a nights accommodation next week. Should have listened to the locals who said the place was rubbish. Perhaps the village will now get its pub back and casual drinkers will not be regarded as aliens.

Apparently it closed today. It's a shame they couldn't have told me this yesterday when I spoke to them on the phone to confirm a room booked for tomorrow night, and a course booked for Saturday!
