5 of us went for Sunday lunch.Having read the 5*ratings .The pub itself and staff very nice ,very out in country ,infact could do with more signs ,and sign to say you can use the carpark at pub,as people parked on road . The Sunday...roast was not upto the standard, of the reviews given .. Beef very tough, mash was sloppy, and roast potatoes were not as usual roasties, hard ,more like boiled new pots covered in fat and herbs and slightly roasted. ,also one small dish of peas and carrots for 5 .was inadequate. Desert of sticky toffee pudding was very nice but to much sauce on 2 and hardly any on the other one. Plus could offer nothing for non dairy person who they new when booking was non dairy. All of us said it was not good and expensive for what we had.More
Thank you for your feedback. It would have been great if you could have mentioned your concerns during one of of the several occasions which you were checked on rather than resorting to trip advisor, i checked on you twice myself and you said everything...More
This is our second visit to X Foxes as we love the journey from our home on the North Wales coast a short distance away, the atmosphere here is lovely & relaxed & the Sunday lunch is superb. All home sourced & home made. Pleasantly...served. We will be back & soon. Thank you.More
First visit to this village pub . Just off the main mold Denbigh road . We got a warm and helpful welcome good food and ale and a very reasonable bill at the end Will definitely visit again
We were staying locally in a cottage and had done some review searching and this pub was top of the list to visit. We visited every day for a cheeky pint/glass of wine and we weer always greeted with a friendly welcome and a smile....We ate here twice as the food was amazing. This is NO pub grub, the food was 100% handmade and just simply delicious. The chicken burger and chips was Hot, and very tasty with a lovely garnish. The pie and pint was exceptional value for money (Thursday) I don't like pie, however on our second night Friday, they offered the pie without the pastry for me, WOW!! the filling was plentiful with huge chunks of chicken, ham and leek. Hubbie opted for the lamb dish and again stunning food. another great thing about this place is that it is dog friendly! We would 100% go back here if we were in the area and would highly recommend!More
Curiosity pulled us here, what a fabulous quaint pub. Extremely friendly landlord, great beer, and the end of sunday food service roast potatoes put out for free. Based on the spuds we will definitely be back to try the full Sunday dinner.
The Cross Foxes is a well run pub in the lovely village of Nannerch. The lunch was superb as was the service so welcoming & friendly. We journeyed to get there, it was well worth it & we will return. Thank you.
They fitted us in at the last minute for a excellent Sunday lunch the apple crumble with custard was sooo good too. Good beer and a very warm and welcoming atmosphere would highly recommend.
Friendly and welcoming couple run pub. Open fire. Delicious Sunday roast with choice of 3 meats or vegetarian option. Fabulous dessert selection available. Recommend to book in advance.
We visited twice in a week - first and last nights of our holidays. Food was very tasty - the steak pie and the Tuscan beef being particularly well loved! The local/craft beers were apparently good snd the desserts were absolutely lush!!! Our three year...old grandson was also well catered for and staff made us all feel very welcome.More
Our first visit today but definitely not our last. The food was really excellent and the staff were great.
Great little traditional pub with good selection of beer and food, welcoming and helpful staff. Highly recommend it!
We Hlhad homemade steak and ale pie with shortcrust pastry (hubby in heaven) biggest chunks of meat imaginable plus I had scampi with no fat dribbling out when cut! The home made hand cut chips are to die for. The Lemon Meringue Roulade was very...nice as was the Sticky Toffeep Pudding. Shame we were only in the area on holiday as I would love this to be my local.More
As a group of seven we turned up on Sunday afternoon on the way back to our cottage. We received a warm welcome and our drinks order taken quickly. Once sat at our table we were supplied with warm roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings left...from Sunday lunch. Fabulous, and just what the doctor ordered. Definitely encouraged to return.More
We've been twice now for Sunday lunch and initially thought £9.95 was good value for one course, although we don't like not having table service; i.e. having to order at the bar like a chain pub. It's not so relaxing or a treat as Sunday...lunch out 'should' be, especially having to get up during a meal and come out of the restaurant to queue at the bar again to order coffee or pudding when you just want to chill with the kids and enjoy a break. In addition, although the Yorkshires, roast potatoes, veg and gravy were all good, we left feeling hungry still and a bit fed up. This was because the meat (beef in my case) although tasty, was sliced wafer thin and there was only two slices. This meant you finished the meat way before the rest of the food, then didn't enjoy the rest as potatoes etc are a bit boring without the main act to accompany them. We are used locally, to Sunday roasts being two thick slices at least of meat, (slightly pink roast beef is our heaven) so the plate is balanced well between the meat and veg. We think it's a real pity about the meat as otherwise would've have rated it much higher, as we like the pub and I'm writing this in the hopes they might review the portions and adjust. We'd much rather pay a bit more and leave with our appetites satisfied and give our order at the table like you can at most of the other pubs in the area.More
Thank you Julie for your extensive feedback, we are flattered by the amount of time you have devoted to us, and impressed by your appetite - leaving the Cross Foxes hungry twice after two courses is most definitely a rare occurrence! Please visit and experience...More
