Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

From beginning to end, we had a great experience for Easter Sunday lunch. We had a warm welcome on arrival and we were promptly shown to our table. The service was exceptional and very attentive. The food was delicious and freshly cooked with very generous...portions. Excellent value for money! Highly recommended if you are in the area. Hope to visit again soon!More

First time visit, good rustic local pub feel, friendly staff, good service, decent food. Limited choice of beers. Parking could be a little problematic on a busy weekend but spaces roadside close by. Recommend.

A lovely pub, where everything seems to be homemade and the staff really seem to be proud of their food and the venue. A great find after a bit of a grey muddy walk along the river. Right next door to Westbury Court Gardens (NT),...so a very convenient lunch stop.More

Met up with family for Sunday lunch. Good varied menu with reasonable priced food and wine. Excellent service, efficient staff and lively atmosphere. The food was really good - nice homemade Yorkshires! Only downsides were lack of parking and having to queue at the bar...to pay the bill. Definitely recommended!More

Great little pub with friendly staff and a good selection of ales but….. the Sunday dinner was out of this world - never tasted gravy or roasties like it. And under £20 per adult so genuinely couldn’t find any fault.

We went for my husbands birthday meal. I'd have liked. My starter was filo pastry with chicken and prawns. It was tasty. For my main, I had the char-grilled pork. It looked lovely and tasted good. The slices of pork were tender but the larger...piece was slightly dry. The only thing I was missing was a little more apple sauce but that's my fault for not asking! I would have preferred firmer veg too as they took on the taste of the parsnips (I like parsnips but hubbie isn't a fan!) My potatoes didn't come out with the meal but at least the person that brought them confessed 😁 The wait between ordering and courses was good (I didn't get a check in though). The guy behind the bar was friendly and it was good to hear they are going to be busy over the festive season!More

We went here as a big group for Sunday Lunch. The food was wonderful. I enjoyed the generous portion of perfectly cooked beef. The crème brûlée was also fantastic. The staff were lovely and very helpful. We would definitely return. If I were to give...one area that could be improved that's to give the baked potatoes longer in the oven but that really was only a minor thing.More

A great pub that serves a lovely selection of menus. We booked in for lunch on Sunday and all decided to have the ploughman’s sharing platters which were really good value. It would have been nice to have had some local pork pies and bread...but otherwise it was great. There was plenty for a couple. We had two deserts of pineapple pudding and cookie dough which were also very good. Service was excellent and we will definitely be returning to try what looked like a wonderful roast and the other platters.More

A decent but unmemorable meal. Overmany potatoes, skin - not crackling - left on the pork chop. Rather loud 'background' music. A bit pricey for what it offered.

Lovely pub/restaurant area, perfect for Sunday lunch and reasonably priced for such freshly prepared, homemade and well presented food! Will visit again; vegetarian choice was lovely! Great value with 3 types of potato served, cauliflower cheese ( actually browned/gratinated/tasted of cheese!), lots of fresh veg...and light yorkies, all delicious, many thanksMore

Fabulous Sunday lunch. We had the vegan roast with all the veggie trimmings and veggie gravy! Super tasty, veg cooked perfectly. Beautifully presented and delicious. The yummiest gooey brownie for dessert! The shortcake dessert also amazing! A perfect Sunday roast with a nice glass of...red wine to top it off! All at a very reasonable price Thank you ❤️😊More

Appealing pub on the main A48, in the centre of a Severnside village, adjacent to the church. There is a traditional bar area with two separate restaurants on either side of this. The menu offers a good selection of mainly pub standards such as fish...& chips, steaks, pies and a great range of burgers, and it was burgers that we opted for. They proved to be very good burgers, served with decent chips. Prices are very reasonable. There were two ales on the bar at the time of our visit, both from Butcombe; decent enough and semi-local, but I would like to have seen something from Gloucestershire. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and service is efficient.More

One of the best pubs and food we have had the pleasure to find and enjoy. Exceptional. The menu was vast making it difficult to choose. The onion rings were out of this world. It was so good we came back for a Sunday dinner...the next day. Great variety of vegetables, tasty and good portions. Lovely garden and all dog friendly too. This is now our benchmark pub that we will remember for a long time. Needless to say we recommend it!!More
