Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great food, lovely staff. We got there before opening time but the landlady still served us a beer to sit outside with. Really friendly and chatty staff. Our meal was delicious

We had a table booked as it was my wife's Birthday Meal. There were 16 or us in total. We cannot praise the staff enough as the meal was perfect in every way. We could not fault the meal, nor the staff. We will certainly...visit The Railway Inn again in the future.More

This pub is out of the way but persevere to find it. Staff are lovely and food was delicious. Good choice of options on the menu and freshly cooked.

This was our first visit to the Railway Inn and we all thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The menu was varied and the prices were great. We all really enjoyed our food. My granddaughter thought her lasagna was the best she'd ever had and Ben also...thought his steak and ale pie was the tastiest he'd had in a very long time and it was packed with tender beef. We were even served with an extra bowl of veg and lovely crispy chips for the table. Our only criticism would be that the beef bourguignon did not have enough meat in it. My granddaughter wolfed down the tasty apple pie and custard. We will definitely be back.More

We were made welcome by Alice and stayed two nights also having an evening meal. It was very hot weather and we did find it hard to sleep. Maybe a fan would have helped. The food is good and good value and we enjoyed breakfast....We might have liked a later time but understood how busy the staff were on this occasion.More

I stayed here when walking the Offa’s Dyke Path. It’s 2km off the trail, but it was well worth the extra couple of kms. Dinner was good, breakfast was excellent, and (for a small fee) they provided me with a packed lunch. Special mention for...Rebecca who was a really attentive and professional bar person/waitress. Would definitely stay here again.More

We went here for the first time for lunch on my husband's birthday. It is very clean and there is a good choice of food for a reasonable price. I had the steak and ale pie with mash, gravy and vegetables and it tasted good....My husband had the vegetarian risotto and chips. We are not vegetarians but some times eat vegetarian food whilst out and there is a good choice. The service was good and the manager was friendly. The food came out quickly. We may come back here with our children as there is a children's menu and the manager seemed flexible about children's food.More

Visited this place on a few occasions now for evening meal. Each time the restaurant has been very quiet or even empty but people don't know what they're missing! The pub was warm and inviting, very clean and the welcome was warm. The beer was...good and on every occasion the meals have been excellent. The homemade steak pie is a particular favourite, as is the liver and onions. The young waitress is very smartly dressed, efficient and friendly and also wears a visor. Prices are reasonable. As the title suggests, just good honest food.More

In a different league to most pub food. The home made pie really was, and the sweets lovely. Decent beer too, and the service was helpful and efficient.
