Lovely old pub with a dark interior, free monkey nuts, a great range of beers, live music, nice staff and interesting artefacts. Don’t stand under the middle position in the bar as the staff can assume that the chalk sign above your head applies

Dark and atmospheric bar serving a superb range of real ales. The Old Ale House is everything a traditional pub should be. I believe they offer food too but the beer is the main attraction here.

If you haven't already been to the Skinners brewery for a tour and you like beer, then go book a tour now, you won't regret it! We came to this pub, having previously done the tour and fallen in love with Skinners beer. There was...More

This pub has many good beers on tap and a beer wall to sample many more special beers. Fortunately, we had taken the bus into town from our hotel, so could try a few. We did return again to sample more beers and an excellent...More

Nice range of beers, mainly Skinners, but wider than their normal range. When we went it was filling up with ordinary locals waiting for the band to mike up.Altogether a nice, unpretentious atmosphere, and I was getting ready to choose a second drink when the...More

Ate here once, food was OK. We call in fairly often after the pictures & my big problem with this place is that the ONLY cider on offer is a small selection of weird vinegary flat scrumpies. Not even a bottle of Magners on offer....More

This was our favourite pub in Truro. Dark, traditional and atmospheric. They sell an excellent range of Skinners beers as well as a good selection of traditional ciders and perries. We particularly enjoyed the Monday night jam session featuring competent local musicians playing some decent...More

Called in for drinks after dinner on a Friday night. Busy but relaxed, plenty of ales and drinks on offer, including craft beers. Hadnt anticipated the peanut shells covering the floor, but all added to the experience. Service ok and an enjoyable few drinks.

This place has been tweaked and touched up over time but never has it been changed. There are adverts from the 1980s inside and yet it isn’t in any way shabby. The beer quality is simply stunning. I’ve never seen such clear pints. The latest...More

Description
The Old Ale House is a proper Cornish pub in the heart of Truro & is the Brewery Tap for Skinner's Brewery. Great local ciders also available. Sample the ales and ciders with our tasting trays. Live music every Saturday with the best of Cornish talent, also Jam night every Monday. Monkey nuts still very much an essential part of the Bar!
