We had pre-dinner drinks and dinner here recently and I can only give them excellent reviews. The setting is beautiful, the food was scrupmtious with LARGE portions and the service impeccable. It was a most enjoyable evening. This is a place to celebrate special occasions.

My experience was well below what I had expected. The Alverton overall is a fantastic place to stay, but the food was a let down. Lack of taste, some of the food had been microwaved and old. I can cook better food at home!

Stayed there a week. A beautiful hotel. Ate in twice. Good service but poor quality food. Disappointed both times.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights, enjoying both breakfast and dinner. We tried most starters, enjoying the scallops the best. The main entrees were all delicious: the lamb, sea bass, cod, steak and seafood pasta were enjoyed by all. And then we tried...More

Yesterday we celebrated our Golden Wedding Anniversary with a lunch at the Alverton. We were warmly welcomed and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Although we were a party of 15 people, the food was served swiftly and was delicious. We are glad...More

Staff are so professional and truely make the experience amazing when you visit. They couldn't do enough to make the evening one we shall never forget. The history also with the building makes it better than any hotel I have visited or stayed in. The...More
