Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

First time visiting since it's been refurbished. Had lovely service from a young girl and Chrissie was on the fryer.
Chrissie made us very welcome and we sat down in a spotless clean, cosy area. Had a fab cup of tea whilst waiting for our food and then it came on beautiful plates.
I'm glad I asked for my fish to be cooked for a couple minutes longer than usual as I've always found the batter to be very greasy and soggy. It did help somewhat but feel that honestly the batter should be made thinner and fried at a higher temperature. The fish was delicious... snowy white, moist and more than enough. Chips were good but, again could they be fried a tiny bit quicker which would have made them slightly less greasy (I used to work in a chippy years ago). I had the special which was fish, chips, peas and home-made tartar sauce at 8.25. Overall I'd definitely go back again, lovely warm welcome from Chrissie, great modern decor and lovely food which just needs a tiny bit of tweaking to become perfect and I'm a right fussy madam! Thank you Walkers 💕

I ordered fish and chips, sausage in Batter lunch time to be picked up at 5:15. Batter on fish was soggy and battered sausages were battered could hardly get my fork in. They seemed like sausages left over from lunchtime and rebattered. Very disappointed.

My daughter and I were in Truro Thursday evening and needed to eat, I suggested Bodega Tapas or Xen noodle bar but she craved fish and chips for some reason (she is 12). We ended up in Walkers and saw a £5 takeaway deal for two small sausages and chips. When I enquired whether we could have that in the restaurant the lady said yes it might be a little bit more though. We ordered two of the same meal, two small sausages and chips, curry sauce and a can. The can was £2.25 and warm, the curry sauce was very tasty but this is where is got me, the lady charged us £5.50 per portion of undercooked chips and not that many of them. I did question whether that was right and she just dismissed me in a patronising manner. When our meals arrived there was no cutlery so I had to wait another five minutes for cutlery. I will be fair, the chips were poor and overpriced but the battered sausage and curry sauce was nice. The whole 28 minutes we were in there, we had 5 or 6 UBER delivery drivers causing a commotion about orders etc. All in all it was a pretty miserable experience, I think the £5 takeaway deal would be the best option if you or your children craved fish and chips. Very disappointing. Don’t waste your time eating £5.50 chips in the restaurant.

My husband and I smelt the lovely aroma of fish and chips as we were in Truro. We wandered around looking for where the fish and chip shop was. When we found it we weren’t disappointed they tasted as delicious as they smelt.
The staff were really helpful and friendly.
We both had cod and chips one with mushy peas all cooked to perfection presented nicely and generous portions.
There is a disabled toilet although after saying that the chairs and tables would probably need to be moved out of the way as there wasn’t enough room to get in between them with a wheelchair.
As you go in the door it isn’t quite flat this could be an issue if you have mobility issues. It’s more awkward than steep.
Would recommend and we would certainly go back.

I only ever review things when they are either really good or really bad. Unfortunately this was the later! Cod and chips smelt and tasted of dirty oil. Worse we’ve eaten. Avoid there must be nicer fish and chips In the area.

So disappointed with our food. My husband ordered a large chips so we could share and the portion was so small it was hardly enough for a child!
The batter was all slimy and had more of a bread texture than a batter.
The curry sauce was like yellow water.
We will never be getting our fish and chips from here ever again!

Thank you to the girls Chrissy and Bee for always the lovely service they give me. Always smiling and will go that extra mile. The chips are amazing and looking at some of these reviews is quite unfair considering the amount of amazing service they give. Thank you girls I’m a regular for life xx

Went there on the 8th of March . The girl messed the price up then was very Rude saying it was another £3.75 after making me wait 15 min for chips. Walked out , told her to keep the money she had already taken for and the food , would never step foot in there again. Horrible people

Officially worst chip shop chips in living memory. Fried, re fried, oil possibly 4 days old. Can still taste the oil after 2 hours. Infuriated. Last year in Newquay i had to write a review as had a really poor quality fish and chips, here we are this officially wins the title. Chips was re cooked at least 2 times.. Cod was chunky but the batter not crispy and crunchy and soggy. Fish i asked for large possible 200 gram of cod would give the fish a 6.5. Just battered totally wrong. Soggy Chips dripping in Oil. Mushy peas portion must be 100 grams. I have family in the fish and chips industry makes me want to set up shop here and wipe out such competition. Terrible, terrible. Staff was not trained adequately. Served by poorly trained staff
Somebody has just clearly purchased this business employing cheap labour and not caring about the business. Pitty!

Poor standard. Fish batter was greasy and fish was tasteless. The battered sausages were of very poor quality meat. The chips were chewy! That's it and that on top of the front of house order taker being very short and blunt when taking orders, I will never return. Sole plaice so much better, we thought we'd try it Walkers out tonight for a change.. but a mistake we won't make again!

Ordered 1/4 chicken for £5.25 (yes that's just for the chicken 1/4!!) this is what I got. A measley overcooked small bit of leg! Rubbish & a rip off. My sons double sasuage n chips cost just £4.50 all in. Sue (my immobile neighbour said her cod n chips was small & tasteless. STAY AWAY!!

My wife and I are great fans of Cornish fish and chips, and Walkers is one of the best experiences in the county. Their lunchtime special of cod, chips, mushy peas, delicious homemade tartare sauce and coffee is a bargain. You could easily pay 30% of the cost for a similar machine-made coffee elsewhere. The fish is perfectly cooked and attention to every detail, including locally sourced condiments, is excellent.
Enjoyable eat-in experience at an unregrettable price.

It is really sad when places that used to try so hard go so down hill but this post COVID visit was such a let down. The fat for the fish has clearly not been filtered and the chips were so anemic I nearly rushed them to RCHT. Dire
