My wife made reservations for an early dinner at Kai one night while we were staying at the Ritz-Carlton. I went expecting to be disappointed since it is a hotel restaurant and there is a Sushi restaurant just minutes away by foot that would have been my choice. Her call was the right one - we loved Kai. The view... More

Kai has a great location in the Ritz and has the usual high quality service, but its sushi is at best OK. (Granted, I am spoiled on the sushi front.) The menu options are good and the quality of raw fish is of course excellent but overall taste is just not that great. Given its prices, high even by Maui... More

Sushi was very good, you can always tell when there is an experienced sushi chef, the rolls do not fall apart. Very convenient as we were staying at the Ritz.

The concierge recommended it and so we tried it. The restaurant looked pretty empty the majority of the time we were there and that should have been a clue. We are sushi lovers and everything was underwhelming. The sushi options were not that creative or tasty. Even the dessert was lacking. They did also seem to be in somewhat of... More

A family of sushi lovers--we were blown away at the options and quality. Teen agers now using this as a barometer to sushi back home. Expensive---but service and food was very good.

We are use to sushi bars in SoCal which typically offer more options than we found here. What was on the menu, very tasty and fresh. Dynamite was very good, Hamachi very good. Service was pleasant. Would rate it higher had there been the usual options that one expects at sushi bar.

We have had better sushi at home in Indiana. They have a good sake menu, but very limited sushi options and it was nothing fantastic. They also seated us right next to other diners (including a large family with lots of small kids) when there were only 4 tables filled in the entire restaurant.

On an island with a large Japanese community, this restaurant fails in authenticity. Fusion sushi not innovative, and stay away from cocktails, which were actually unpleasant tasting. Staff genial but uninformed.
